The Worthless Treaty with Egypt
Woe to the rebellious children, saith Jehovah, who take counsel, but not of me, and who make leagues, but not by my Spirit, that they may heap sin upon sin;

who walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked of my mouth, -- to take refuge under the protection of Pharaoh, and trust in the shadow of Egypt!
Адже захист фараона буде для вас на сором і зневагою для тих, хто надіється на Єгипет.
For to you the protection of Pharaoh shall be a shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt a confusion.

For his princes were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes.

They were all ashamed of a people [that] did not profit them, nor were a help or profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.
Видіння чотириногих в пустелі. У смутку і пригніченні, лев і малюк-левеня, звідти і гадюка, і покоління літаючих зміїв, які понесли на ослах і верблюдах своє багатство до народу, який не приніс їм користі для допомоги, але на сором і погорду.
-- The burden of the beasts of the south: Through a land of trouble and anguish, whence come the lioness and lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they carry their riches upon the shoulders of asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels,
Єгиптяни марно і надаремне допомагатимуть вам, бо сповісти їм: Марна ця ваша потіха!
For Egypt shall help in vain, and to no purpose; therefore have I named her, Arrogance, that doeth nothing.
Отже, тепер, сівши, напиши це на дошці та в книзі, бо це буде на період часу — аж до віку.
A Warning to a Rebellious People
Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and record it in a book, that it may be for the time to come, as a witness for ever,

Адже це народ неслухняний, брехливі сини, які не бажали послухати Божого Закону,
that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of Jehovah;
ті, які говорять пророкам: Не сповіщайте нам! — і тим, які бачать видіння: Не говоріть нам, але говоріть нам і сповіщайте нам інший обман,
who say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things; speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits;
і відверніть нас від цієї дороги, заберіть від нас цю стежку, і заберіть від нас Святого Ізраїля!
get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us!
Через це так говорить Господь, Святий Ізраїля: Через те, що ви не послухалися цих слів і повірили обману, і тому що ти нарікав і поклав надію на це слово,
Therefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel: Because ye reject this word, and confide in oppression and wilfulness, and depend thereon,
через це буде вам цей гріх як стіна, що раптово впаде, як захоплене укріплене місто, падіння якого має статись раптово!
therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a towering wall, whose breaking shall come suddenly in an instant.
І його падіння буде як розбиття глиняного посуду, щоб з посуду не знайшлося в них дрібного черепка, в який можеш взяти вогонь, чи в який можеш налити трохи води.
And he shall break it as the breaking of a potter's vessel, that is broken in pieces unsparingly; and in the pieces of it there shall not be found a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to scoop water out of the cistern.
Так говорить Господь, Святий Ізраїля: Коли, відвернувшись, зітхатимеш, тоді врятуєшся і пізнаєш, де ти є. Коли покладеш надію на марне, то марною стала ваша сила! Та ви не забажали послухати,
For thus saith the Lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel: In returning and rest shall ye be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be your strength; but ye would not.
але сказали: Втечемо на коні! Через це втікатимете. І ви сказали: На швидких конях будемо. Через це швидкими будуть ті, хто вас переслідуватиме.
And ye said, No, but we will flee upon horses, -- therefore shall ye flee; and, We will ride upon the swift, -- therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.
Від голосу одного втікатиме тисяча, від голосу п’ятьох втікатимуть численні, доки не залишитесь, як стовп на горі, як той, що несе знак на пагорбі.
One thousand [shall flee] at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as a banner on a hill.
І знову чекатиме Бог, щоб вас помилувати і через це підніметься, щоб вас помилувати. Тому що Господь Бог є вашим суддею, і де залишите вашу славу? Блаженні ті, які залишаються в Ньому,
God's Mercies
And therefore will Jehovah wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he lift himself up, that he may have mercy upon you; for Jehovah is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

тому що святий народ житиме в Сіоні. І Єрусалим сильно заплакав [1]: Помилуй мене. Помилує тебе задля голосу твого крику. Коли побачив, вислухає тебе.
For the people shall dwell in Zion, at Jerusalem. Thou shalt weep no more; he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; as he heareth it, he will answer thee.
І Господь дасть вам хліб смутку і мало води, і більше не наблизяться до тебе ті, хто тебе вводить в оману. Бо твої очі побачать тих, що тебе вводять в оману,
And the Lord will give you the bread of adversity, and the water of oppression; yet thy teachers shall not be hidden any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers.
і твої вуха чутимуть слова тих, які тебе вводять ззаду в оману, що говорять: Це дорога, підемо нею, чи направо, чи наліво.
And when ye turn to the right hand or when ye turn to the left, thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it.
І ти викинеш посріблених і позолочених божків, роздробиш на куски і розпорошиш, як воду відлученої, і викинеш їх, як випорожнення.
And ye shall defile the silver covering of your graven images, and the gold overlaying of your molten images; thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth: Out! shalt thou say unto it.
Тоді буде дощ для насіння твоєї землі, і хліб врожаю твоєї землі буде великий і багатий. І твоя худоба в той день пастиметься на врожайному і широкому місці.
And he will give the rain of thy seed with which thou shalt sow the ground; and bread, the produce of the ground, and it shall be fat and rich. In that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures;
Ваші бики і воли, які працюють на землі, їстимуть полову, змішану з просіяним ячменем.
and the oxen and the asses that till the ground shall eat salted provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan.
І буде на всякій високій горі і на всякому високому пагорбі вода, що тече в той день, коли багато людей загинуть, і коли впадуть башти.
And there shall be upon every high mountain and upon every hill that is lifted up, brooks [and] water-courses, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
І світло місяця буде як, світло сонця, а світло сонця буде всемеро ясніше вдень, коли Господь оздоровить ураження Свого народу і вилікує біль твоєї рани.
And the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that Jehovah bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the wound of their stroke.
Ось Господнє Ім’я йде через безліч часу, — палаючий гнів, слово Його уст зі славою, слово великого гніву, і гнів люті пожирає, як вогонь.
Behold, the name of Jehovah cometh from far, burning [with] his anger -- a grievous conflagration; his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a consuming fire;
І Його Дух, як вода, що пливе в долині, вона сягатиме аж до шиї, і поділиться, щоб марністю збентежити народи на оману. І їх переслідуватиме омана, і їх схопить віч-на-віч.
and his breath as an overflowing torrent, which reacheth even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction, and [to put] a bridle into the jaws of the peoples, that causeth them to go astray.
Хіба не треба, щоб ви постійно раділи і постійно входили до Моєї святині, як ті, хто святкує, і як ті, хто веселиться, щоб вийти із сопілкою на Господню гору до Бога Ізраїля?
Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a feast is sanctified; and joy of heart, as of one who goeth with a pipe to come unto the mountain of Jehovah, to the Rock of Israel.
І Бог дасть почути славу Його голосу і покаже гнів Його могутньої руки — з гнівом, люттю і полум’ям, що пожирає. Він сильно загримить, як вода і град, які несуться із силою.
And Jehovah will cause the majesty of his voice to be heard, and will shew the lighting down of his arm with indignation of anger, and a flame of consuming fire, with waterflood and storm and hailstones.
Адже через Господній голос ассирійці зменшаться через поразу, якою їх уразить.
For through the voice of Jehovah shall the Assyrian be broken down: he will smite [him] with the rod.
І вона буде йому звідусіль, звідки він надіявся на допомогу, на яку він покладався. Вони із сопілками і гуслами воюватимуть проти нього у відповідь.
And wherever shall pass the appointed staff, which Jehovah shall lay upon him, it shall be with tambours and harps; and with tumultuous battles will he fight with it.
Бо ти перед тими днями будеш знову потрібний. Хіба не тобі приготовлено царювати над глибокою долиною, поваленим деревом, вогнем і численними дровами? Гнів Господа, як долина, що палає сіркою!
For Topheth is prepared of old; for the king also it is prepared: he hath made it deep and large; its pile is fire and much wood; the breath of Jehovah, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
