And these are the words of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon

Так говорить Господь: Ось води приходять з півночі й будуть рікою, що заливає, і заллє землю і її повноту, місто і тих, які в ньому живуть. І закричать люди, і закричать усі, хто живе на землі.
(after that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the craftsmen, and the smiths, had departed from Jerusalem);
Від голосу його навали, від зброї його ніг і від трясіння його колісниць, звуку його коліс не повернулися батьки до своїх синів через ослаблення їхніх рук
by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkijah (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon, unto Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), saying,

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all the captivity, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon:
Приходить лисина на Ґазу, відкинений Аскалон і останок Енакіма. Аж доки рубатимеш,
Build houses, and dwell in them, and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
мече Господній? Аж доки не замовкатимеш? Повернися у свої піхви, спочинь і будь піднесений.
Take wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and multiply there, and be not diminished.
