Нехай кожний стережеться свого ближнього, і не надійтеся на своїх братів, бо кожний брат безперечно обманюватиме [1] , і кожний друг ходитиме підступно!

Кожний висміюватиме свого друга, правди не скажуть. Їхній язик навчився говорити неправду, тож вони чинили неправедно і не переставали, щоб навернутися.
“Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor,

Лихва на лихві, обман на обмані! А Мене побачити не забажали!
“Everyone deceives his neighbor

Через це так говорить Господь: Ось Я піддам їх дії вогню і їх випробую, бо зроблю це через присутність зла дочки Мого народу!
“Your dwelling is in the midst of deceit;

Їхній язик — стріла, що ранить, слова їхніх уст — омана. Мирне говорить він своєму ближньому, та на нього тримає ворожнечу.
Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts,
“Behold, I will refine them and assay them;
For what else can I do, because of the daughter of My people?

На горах підніміть плач і ридання на стежках пустелі, бо вони спустіли через те, що немає людей. Вони не почули голосу існування життя; від птахів неба і аж до худоби всі жахнулися і відійшли.
“Shall I not punish them for these things?” declares the LORD.

Тож Я віддам Єрусалим для переселення та на поселення драконів, і міста Юди призначу на знищення, щоб не були заселені.
“For the mountains I will take up a weeping and wailing,

Because they are laid waste so that no one passes through,
And the lowing of the cattle is not heard;
Both the birds of the sky and the beasts have fled; they are gone.

Хто людина мудра, то нехай це зрозуміє, і в кого є слово, яке прийшло до нього з Господніх уст, то нехай вам сповістить! Внаслідок чого знищена земля, спалена, як пустеля, що нею не пройти?
“I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins,
A haunt of jackals;
And I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”

І Господь промовив до мене: Тому, що вони залишили Мій закон, який Я дав у їхній присутності, і не послухалися Мого голосу,
Who is the wise man that may understand this? And who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD has spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land ruined, laid waste like a desert, so that no one passes through?
але пішли за пожаданнями їхнього злого серця і за ідолами, чому навчили їх їхні батьки!
The LORD said, “Because they have forsaken My law which I set before them, and have not obeyed My voice nor walked according to it,
Через це так говорить Господь, Бог Ізраїля: Ось Я нагодую їх нуждою і напою їх жовчною водою,
but have walked after the stubbornness of their heart and after the Baals, as their fathers taught them,”
і розсію їх в народах, яких не знали ні вони, ні їхні батьки, і нашлю на них меч, щоб вигубити їх ним!
therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, “behold, I will feed them, this people, with wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink.
Говорить Господь: Прикличте плакальниць, і хай прийдуть, — пошліть до досвідчених, і хай здіймуть лемент,
“I will scatter them among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them until I have annihilated them.”
і хай влаштують за вами голосіння, і хай їхні очі ллють сльози, і їхні повіки хай проливають воду!

“Consider and call for the mourning women, that they may come;
And send for the wailing women, that they may come!

Бо голос плачу чути в Сіоні: Яким чином ми потрапили в страждання? Ми сильно засоромлені, бо ми залишили землю, і ми покинули наші поселення.
“Let them make haste and take up a wailing for us,

And our eyelids flow with water.

Послухайте, жінки, Боже слово, і хай ваші уста сприймуть слова Його уст, і навчіть ваших дочок сумувати, і кожна жінка свою сусідку — голосити!
“For a voice of wailing is heard from Zion,
‘How are we ruined!
We are put to great shame,
For we have left the land,
Because they have cast down our dwellings.’”

Адже смерть увійшла крізь ваші вікна, прийшла на вашу землю, щоб вигубити немовлят ззовні й молодих з площ.
Now hear the word of the LORD, O you women,
And let your ear receive the word of His mouth;
Teach your daughters wailing,
And everyone her neighbor a dirge.

І мертві люди будуть за прообраз на поверхні землі — як трава за женцем, і не буде того, хто збирає.

Speak, “Thus says the LORD,
‘The corpses of men will fall like dung on the open field,
And like the sheaf after the reaper,
But no one will gather them.’”

але лиш цим нехай хвалиться той, хто хвалиться, що пізнав і знає, що Я — Господь, Який творить милосердя, суд і праведність на землі, бо в цьому Моя воля, — говорить Господь.
Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches;
Ось приходять дні, — говорить Господь, — і Я відвідаю всіх обрізаних за їхнє необрізання:
but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD.
Єгипет, Юду, Едом, синів Аммона, синів Моава і всякого остриженого на його обличчі з тих, які живуть у пустелі. Бо всі народи необрізані тілом, а кожний дім Ізраїля необрізаний їхнім серцем!
