Concerning Divorce
When Jesus had finished these words, He departed from Galilee and came into the region of Judea beyond the Jordan;

and large crowds followed Him, and He healed them there.
Підійшли до Нього фарисеї і, випробовуючи Його, запитали: Чи годиться чоловікові розлучатися зі своєю дружиною з будь-якої причини?
Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?”
А Він у відповідь сказав: Хіба не читали ви, що Творець на початку створив їх чоловіком і жінкою?
And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE,
І сказав: Тому залишить чоловік батька й матір і пристане до своєї жінки, і обоє будуть одним тілом.
and said, ‘FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH’?
То вже буде не два, а одне тіло. Отже, що Бог поєднав, людина хай не розлучає.
“So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”
Кажуть Йому: А чому ж Мойсей звелів дати листа про розлучення і її відпустити?
They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE AND SEND her AWAY?”
Він каже їм: Мойсей через вашу жорстокість дозволив вам розлучатися з вашими дружинами, але спочатку так не було.
He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way.
Кажу ж вам, що кожен, хто розлучається зі своєю дружиною, — за винятком випадку, спричиненого розпустою, — і одружується з іншою, чинить перелюб, [і хто одружується з розлученою, чинить перелюб].
“And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”
Його учні кажуть Йому: Коли така справа чоловіка з жінкою, то краще не одружуватися.
The disciples said to Him, “If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry.”
Він же сказав їм: Не всі розуміють це слово, а лише ті, кому дано.
But He said to them, “Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given.
Бо є євнухи, які такими народилися з лона матері; є євнухи, яких оскопили люди, і є євнухи, які задля Царства Небесного оскопили самі себе. Хто може збагнути, нехай збагне.
“For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it.”
Тоді привели до нього дітей, щоб руки поклав на них і помолився, а учні заборонили їм.
Jesus Blesses Little Children
Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.
Та Ісус сказав: Облиште дітей і не забороняйте їм приходити до Мене, бо для таких є Царство Небесне.
But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
І, поклавши на них руки, Він пішов звідти.
After laying His hands on them, He departed from there.
І ось один, підійшовши, сказав Йому: Учителю [добрий], що доброго я маю робити, аби мати вічне життя?
The Rich Young Ruler
And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?”
Ісус сказав йому: Чому питаєш Мене про добре? Добрий тільки Один Бог. Як хочеш увійти до життя, дотримуйся заповідей.
And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
Той питає Його: Яких? Ісус відповів: Не вбивай, не чини перелюбу, не кради, не свідчи неправдиво,
Then he said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER; YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY; YOU SHALL NOT STEAL; YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS;
шануй батька та матір і люби ближнього свого, як самого себе.
HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER; and YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”
Каже Йому юнак: Це все зберіг я [змалку], чого ще мені бракує?
The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?”
Ісус відповів йому: Якщо хочеш бути досконалим, піди та продай своє майно, роздай бідним і матимеш скарб на небесах, а тоді приходь і йди за Мною.
Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
Почувши ці слова, юнак із сумом відійшов, бо мав великі маєтки.
But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property.
А Ісус сказав Своїм учням: Запевняю вас, що важко багатому ввійти в Царство Небесне.
And Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
І ще додам: легше верблюдові пройти через вушко голки, ніж багатому ввійти в Царство Боже.
“Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
Почувши це, учні дуже здивувалися і сказали: То хто ж тоді може спастися?
When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, “Then who can be saved?”
Поглянувши на них, Ісус промовив: Для людей це неможливо, а для Бога все можливе.
And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Тоді Петро, звернувшись до Нього, сказав: Ось ми залишили все й пішли за Тобою, то що нам буде?
The Disciples’ Reward
Then Peter said to Him, “Behold, we have left everything and followed You; what then will there be for us?”
А Ісус відказав: Запевняю вас, що ви, які пішли за Мною, у новому бутті, коли сяде Син Людський на престолі Своєї слави, сядете й ви на дванадцятьох престолах, щоб судити дванадцять племен Ізраїля.
And Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
І кожний, хто задля Мого Імені залишить дім або братів, або сестер, або батька, або матір, [або дружину], або дітей, або поля, той отримає в сто разів більше і матиме у спадок вічне життя.
“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name’s sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life.
