    Jesus Comes to Zacchaeus’ House

    Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.

    І ось чоловік, якого звали Закхей, — це був старший над митниками і був багатий, —

    Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.

    прагнув побачити Ісуса, хто Він, але не міг через натовп, бо був малого зросту.

    And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature.

    Побігши наперед, він виліз на смоківницю, щоби Його побачити, коли Він там проходитиме.

    So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way.

    Прийшовши на те місце, Ісус поглянув, [побачив його і] звернувся до нього: Закхею, негайно злізай, бо сьогодні потрібно Мені бути у твоєму домі!

    And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up [a]and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, [b]make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”

    І він швидко зліз, і прийняв Його, радіючи.

    So he [c]made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully.
  • 7
    А всі, побачивши це, нарікали, кажучи: Навіщо зайшов Він, щоби зупинитися в грішної людини!

    But when they saw it, they all [d]complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”

    Устав Закхей і сказав Господу: Ось, Господи, даю бідним половину свого майна, і якщо кого чим скривдив, повертаю вчетверо!

    Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”

    А Ісус промовив до нього: Сьогодні завітало спасіння до цього дому, бо й він — син Авраама;

    And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;
  • 10
    Син Людський прийшов знайти та спасти те, що загинуло!
  • 10
    for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
  • 11
    Коли вони слухали це, Він розповів ще одну притчу, оскільки був близько до Єрусалима, і вони сподівалися, що ось-ось має об’явитися Боже Царство.

    The Parable of the Minas

    Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately.

    Therefore He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.

    Він покликав десятьох своїх рабів, дав їм десять мін [1] і сказав їм: Торгуйте, доки прийду!
  • 13
    So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten [e]minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’
  • 14
    Та громадяни ненавиділи його і послали посланців слідом за ним, кажучи: Не хочемо, щоби цей панував над нами!
  • 14
    But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’
  • 15
    І сталося, що, одержавши царство, він повернувся і звелів покликати до себе тих рабів, яким дав гроші, аби довідатися, що вони вторгували.

    “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

    Приходить перший і каже: Пане, міна твоя принесла десять мін.

    Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’
  • 17
    І відказав йому: Гаразд, добрий рабе, так як в малому ти був вірний, володій десятьма містами.

    And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’
  • 18
    Прийшов другий, кажучи: Пане, міна твоя принесла п’ять мін.
  • 18
    And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’
  • 19
    Сказав і цьому: І ти будь над п’ятьма містами.
  • 19
    Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’
  • 20
    І ще один прийшов, кажучи: Пане, ось твоя міна, яку мав я відкладену в хусточці.
  • 20
    “Then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief.
  • 21
    Адже я боявся тебе, бо ти жорстока людина: береш те, чого не поклав, і жнеш те, чого не посіяв!
  • 21
    For I feared you, because you are [f]an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’
  • 22
    Каже йому: Устами твоїми суджу я тебе, лукавий рабе. Ти знав, що я жорстока людина, що беру те, чого не поклав, і що жну те, чого не посіяв.

    And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow.

    Чому ж не дав ти моїх грошей купцям, і я, повернувшись, узяв би своє з прибутком?

    Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’
  • 24
    А тим, які стояли поряд, сказав: Візьміть від нього міну і дайте тому, хто має десять мін!

    “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’
  • 25
    І відповіли йому: Пане, він же десять мін вже має!
  • 25
    (But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’)
  • 26
    Кажу вам: кожному, хто має, дасться, а від того, хто не має, і те, що має, буде забране [від нього].

    ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
  • 27
    А тих моїх ворогів, які не хотіли, щоб я царював над ними, приведіть сюди і повбивайте їх переді мною!
  • 27
    But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’ ”

    Сказавши це, Він пішов попереду, прямуючи в Єрусалим.

    The Triumphal Entry

    When He had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

    І сталося, як наблизився Він до Витфагії і Витанії, до гори, що зветься Оливна, то послав двох учнів,

    And it came to pass, when He drew near to [g]Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called Olivet, that He sent two of His disciples,

    кажучи: Ідіть у село, що навпроти, а ввійшовши до нього, знайдете прив’язане осля, на яке ніхто з людей ніколи не сідав; відв’яжіть його і приведіть.

    saying, “Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here.

    Коли хто запитає вас, навіщо відв’язуєте, то скажете [йому], що Господь потребує його.

    And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’ ”

    Посланці пішли й знайшли все так, як Він їм сказав.

    So those who were sent went their way and found it just as He had said to them.

    Коли відв’язували осля, запитали його господарі: Навіщо відв’язуєте осля?

    But as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, “Why are you loosing the colt?”

    Вони ж відказали, що Господь потребує його.

    And they said, “The Lord has need of him.”
  • 35
    Тож вони привели осля до Ісуса і, накинувши на нього свою одіж, посадили Ісуса.

    Then they brought him to Jesus. And they threw their own clothes on the colt, and they set Jesus on him.

    А коли Він їхав, стелили свою одежу на дорозі.

    And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road.

    Як наблизився Він до підніжжя Оливної гори, багато учнів почали з радістю хвалити Бога гучним голосом за всі чудеса, які побачили,

    Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,

    вигукуючи: Благословенний Цар, Який іде в Ім’я Господнє! Мир на небі і слава на висотах!

    saying:
    “ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’
    Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

    Та деякі фарисеї з натовпу сказали Йому: Учителю, заборони це Своїм учням!

    And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”
  • 40
    У відповідь Він сказав: Кажу вам, коли вони замовкнуть, кричатиме каміння.

    But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

    А коли Він наблизився і побачив місто, то заплакав над ним,

    Jesus Weeps over Jerusalem

    Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,

    кажучи: Якби ти зрозуміло хоч у цей день, що потрібне для [твого] миру! Тепер же це сховано від очей твоїх.

    saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

    Адже прийдуть на тебе дні, — і твої вороги оточать тебе валом, візьмуть тебе в облогу, тіснитимуть тебе звідусіль,

    For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side,
  • 44
    поб’ють тебе й твоїх дітей у тобі, не залишать каменя на камені в тобі, бо не зрозуміло ти часу своїх відвідин!
  • 44
    and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

    Увійшовши в храм, Він почав виганяти тих, котрі продавали [в ньому й купували],

    Jesus Cleanses the Temple

    Then He went into the temple and began to drive out those who [h]bought and sold in it,

    кажучи їм: Написано: Дім Мій буде домом молитви, а ви зробили його печерою розбійників!

    saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house [i]is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ”

    І навчав щодня в храмі. А первосвященики, книжники та старші народу прагнули Його погубити,

    And He was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people sought to destroy Him,
  • 48
    але не знаходили, як це зробити, оскільки всі люди, слухаючи, не відходили від Нього.

    and were unable to do anything; for all the people were very attentive to hear Him.
