Першого ж дня тижня дуже рано вони [і ще дехто з ними] прийшли до гробу, несучи пахощі, які приготували.

He Is Risen

Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, [a]and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.

Та вони виявили, що камінь відвалений від гробниці,

But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

3

а ввійшовши, не знайшли тіла Господа Ісуса.

Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

4

І сталося, як були вони через це розгублені, то два мужі стали біля них у блискучому одязі.

And it happened, as they were [b]greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.

5

Вони налякалися і посхиляли обличчя до землі, а ті сказали їм: Чому ви шукаєте Живого між мертвими?

Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?

Немає Його тут, бо воскрес! Згадайте, як казав вам, коли ще був у Галилеї.

He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,

Він говорив: Потрібно, щоб Син Людський був виданий у руки грішних людей, був розп’ятий і воскрес на третій день.

saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ”

Тоді вони пригадали Його слова.

And they remembered His words.

Повернувшись від гробу, вони сповістили про все це одинадцятьом і всім іншим.

Then they returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.

10

То були Марія Магдалина, Іванна, Марія, мати Якова, та інші з ними. Вони розповіли про це апостолам.

It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles.

11

Та їхні слова здалися тим вигадкою, — не вірили їм.

And their words seemed to them like [c]idle tales, and they did not believe them.

12

Підвівшись, Петро побіг до гробу і, схилившись, побачив полотно, [яке лежало] окремо, — і пішов до себе, дивуючись з того, що сталося.

But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths [d]lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened.

13

Двоє з них ішли того дня до села, віддаленого на шістдесят стадій [1] від Єрусалима, яке називалося Емаус;

The Road to Emmaus

Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was [e]seven miles from Jerusalem.

14

вони говорили між собою про все, що відбулося.

And they talked together of all these things which had happened.

15

І сталося, коли вони розмовляли й обмірковували, Сам Ісус, наблизившись, пішов разом з ними,

So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.

16

та очі їхні були стримані, щоби Його не впізнали.

16

But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him.

17

Тож Він запитав їх: Що це за справа, над якою міркуєте між собою, ідучи? І чого ви сумні?

17

And He said to them, “What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you [f]walk and are sad?”

18

У відповідь один, на ім’я Клеопа, сказав Йому: Ти хіба єдиний чужинець у Єрусалимі, Який не знає того, що сталося в ньому цими днями?

18

Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, “Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?”

19

І запитав їх: Що саме? А вони розповіли Йому про Ісуса Назарянина, Мужа Пророка, сильного ділом і словом перед Богом і перед усім народом;

And He said to them, “What things?”
So they said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,

20

як видали Його первосвященики й наші старші на смертний присуд і розіп’яли Його.

20

and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him.

21

А ми сподівалися, що Він Той, Хто має визволити Ізраїля. І до того ж, оце третій день, відколи те сталося.

21

But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.

22

Та деякі наші жінки здивували нас: побувавши рано в гробниці

22

Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us.

23

й не знайшовши Його тіла, вони прийшли й розповіли, що бачили появу ангелів, які сповістили, що Він живий.

23

When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.

24

Тоді пішли деякі з нас до гробу — і знайшли все, як говорили жінки; Самого ж Ісуса не побачили!

24

And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see.”

25

Тоді Ісус сказав їм: О нерозумні й повільні серцем, аби вірити в усе, що говорили пророки!

25

Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

26

Хіба не треба було Христові постраждати й увійти у Свою славу?

26

Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?”

27

І, почавши від Мойсея та від усіх пророків, Він пояснив їм з усього Писання те, що стосувалося Його.

27

And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He [g]expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

28

І вони наблизилися до села, до якого йшли. А Він удавав, що йде далі.

28

The Disciples’ Eyes Opened

Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He [h]indicated that He would have gone farther.

29

Та вони просили Його, кажучи: Залишайся з нами, бо вечоріє, вже день закінчується! І Він увійшов, щоби залишитися з ними.

29

But they constrained Him, saying, “Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them.

30

І сталося, як сів Він за столом з ними, то, взявши хліб, поблагословив і, переломивши, давав їм;

30

Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.

31

тут і відкрилися їхні очі, і вони впізнали Його. Та Він став невидимий для них.

31

Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.

32

І сказали вони один одному: Хіба не палало наше серце, коли Він говорив нам у дорозі та пояснював нам Писання?

32

And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

33

Уставши, тієї ж години вони повернулися до Єрусалима та знайшли зібраних одинадцятьох і тих, які були з ними;

33

So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together,

34

вони говорили, що справді Господь воскрес і з’явився Симонові.

34

saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!”

35

А ці розповіли про те, що сталося в дорозі, та як Він відкрився їм під час ламання хліба.

35

And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was [i]known to them in the breaking of bread.

36

Коли вони говорили про це, Сам [Ісус] став посеред них і сказав їм: Мир вам!

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.”

37

Та злякавшись, охоплені жахом, вони думали, що бачать духа.

37

But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit.

38

А Він сказав їм: Чому ви стурбовані, чому такі думки входять до ваших сердець?

38

And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts?

39

Гляньте на Мої руки, на Мої ноги! Це ж Я Сам! Доторкніться до Мене — подивіться, що дух тіла й костей не має, а Я, як бачите, їх маю!

39

Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

40

Сказавши це, Він показав їм руки та ноги.

40

[j]When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.

41

А як вони ще дивувалися і не вірили з радості, Він сказав їм: Чи маєте тут щось із їжі?

But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?”

42

Вони дали Йому частину печеної риби [і бджолиного меду].

42

So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish [k]and some honeycomb.

43

Тож, взявши, Він їв перед ними.

And He took it and ate in their presence.

44

І промовив до них: Ось слова, які Я сказав вам, коли ще був з вами: Має збутися все написане про Мене і в Законі Мойсея, і в Пророків, і в Псалмах!

The Scriptures Opened

Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”

45

Тоді розкрив їхній розум, щоби зрозуміли Писання.

45

And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

46

І Він сказав їм: Так написано, і [необхідно було] постраждати Христові та воскреснути з мертвих на третій день,

46

Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, [l]and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

47

щоб, почавши з Єрусалима, проповідувалося в Ім’я Його покаяння для прощення гріхів між усіма народами.

47

and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

48

Ви [ж є] свідками цього.

48

And you are witnesses of these things.

49

І ось Я посилаю на вас обітницю Мого Отця, а ви залишайтеся в місті [Єрусалимі], доки не зодягнетеся силою з висоти!

49

Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city [m]of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

50

Вивівши їх за місто до Витанії, Він підняв Свої руки і поблагословив їх.

The Ascension

And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.

51

І сталося, що коли благословляв їх, Він віддалився від них і почав підійматися на небо.

51

Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.

52

А вони, поклонившись Йому, з великою радістю повернулися до Єрусалима

And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,

53

і були постійно в храмі, [хвалячи і] прославляючи Бога. [Амінь].

53

and were continually in the temple [n]praising and blessing God. [o]Amen.
