Saul Persecutes the Church
And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
Савло ж нищив Церкву, входячи до домів і виволікаючи чоловіків та жінок, укидав їх до в’язниці.
As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
А ті, які були розпорошені, ходили й благовістили Слово.
Philip in Samaria
Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
А натовпи людей прислухалися до того, що говорив Филип, і однодушно приймали почуте, бо бачили чудеса, які він чинив.
And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
З багатьох, сповнених нечистими духами, вони виходили й гучно кричали, а багато паралізованих і кривих оздоровлялися.
For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
Був у місті один чоловік на ім’я Симон. Перед тим він займався чаклунством і дивував народ Самарії, видаючи себе за когось великого.
Simon the Sorcerer
But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

Його слухали від малого до великого, кажучи: Це велика сила Божа!
To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
Слухали його, бо довго дивував їх чаклунством.
And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
Але коли повірили Филипові, який благовістив про Боже Царство й Ім’я Ісуса Христа, то охрестилися і чоловіки, і жінки.
But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Повірив і сам Симон; охрестившись, він постійно перебував з Филипом і дивувався, коли бачив прояви великої сили й чудеса.
Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
Апостоли, які перебували в Єрусалимі, почули, що Самарія прийняла Боже Слово, і послали до них Петра та Івана.
Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Прийшовши, ті помолилися за них, щоб вони одержали Святого Духа.
Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
Адже на жодного з них Він ще не зійшов, бо ті були тільки хрещені в Ім’я Господа Ісуса.
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Тоді поклали на них руки — і вони одержали Святого Духа.
Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
Коли Симон побачив, що покладанням рук апостолів дається [Святий] Дух, то приніс їм гроші
And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
й промовив: Дайте і мені таку владу, щоб на кого я покладу руки, той одержував би Святого Духа!
Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
Та Петро сказав йому: Твої гроші хай з тобою загинуть, бо ти думаєш за гроші набути дар Божий.
But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
Немає тобі частки й наділу в цій справі, бо твоє серце не чесне перед Богом.
Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
Отже, покайся за це своє зло й молися Богові, може, проститься тобі задум твого серця.
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
Бо ти, я бачу, переповнений жовчною гіркотою і перебуваєш в оковах неправди!
For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
У відповідь Симон сказав: Помоліться за мене до Господа, щоб мене не спіткало ніщо з того, що ви сказали.
Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
А вони засвідчили й після проповіді Слова Господнього повернулися в Єрусалим. Благовістили вони й у багатьох самарійських селах.
And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
Ангел Господній промовив до Филипа, кажучи: Встань і йди на південь, — на шлях, що йде з Єрусалима до Гази, бо пустинний він!
Philip and the Ethiopian
And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

Він устав і пішов. І ось муж, — євнух з Ефіопії, — вельможа ефіопської цариці Кандаки, який був над усіма її скарбами. Він їздив на поклоніння в Єрусалим;
And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
повертаючись, він сидів у своїй колісниці й читав пророка Ісаю.
Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
Дух же сказав Филипові: Підійди і пристань до цієї колісниці!
Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
Филип підбіг і почув, що він читав пророка Ісаю, і запитав: Чи ти розумієш те, що читаєш?
And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
Той відказав: Як же можу я розуміти, коли ніхто не наставить мене? І попросив Филипа, щоб увійшов і сів біля нього.
And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
А місце з Писання, яке він читав, було: Неначе вівцю на заріз, повели Його; неначе ягня безголосе перед тим, хто стриже його, — Він не відкриває уст Своїх.
The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
У Його приниженні відмовлено Йому в суді. [Але] хто розповість про рід Його? Бо життя Його забирається із землі!
In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
А євнух обізвався і сказав Филипові: Благаю тебе, про кого це пророк каже? Про себе самого чи про когось іншого?
And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
Відкривши уста й почавши з цього Писання, Филип благовістив йому про Ісуса.
Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
Тим часом вони, мандруючи дорогою, під’їхали до якоїсь води. І євнух каже: Ось вода. Що ж забороняє мені охреститися?
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
[А Филип йому сказав: Якщо віриш усім своїм серцем, — то можна. Він у відповідь промовив: Вірю, що Ісус Христос є Сином Божим!]
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
І він наказав зупинити колісницю. Вони обидва ввійшли у воду — Филип і євнух; і він охрестив його.
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
Коли вони вийшли з води, Господній Дух забрав Филипа, і євнух більше не бачив його. І їхав він своєю дорогою та радів.
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
