2 Peter 1

Симон-Петро, раб і апостол Ісуса Христа, — до тих, хто завдяки праведності нашого Бога і Спасителя Ісуса Христа прийняв віру, рівноцінну нашій.

Greetings from Peter

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

Благодать вам і мир хай помножаться в пізнанні Бога й Ісуса, нашого Господа!

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

Усе те, що потрібне для життя і побожності, подарувала нам Його Божа сила — пізнанням Того, Хто покликав нас власною славою і чеснотою.

Make Your Calling Sure

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Через них даровані нам дорогоцінні та великі обітниці, щоби через них ви стали учасниками Божественної природи, уникнувши морального розтління, яке є у світі.

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Тому докладіть усі старання, покажіть у вашій вірі чесноту, а в чесноті — пізнання,

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

в пізнанні — стриманість, у стриманості — терпеливість, у терпеливості — побожність,

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

у побожності — братерство, а в братерстві — любов.

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

Адже коли це у вас є та примножується, то не залишить вас без діла, ні без плоду для пізнання Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

А в кому цього нема, той сліпий, короткозорий; він забув про очищення від своїх попередніх гріхів.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Тому, брати, усе більше намагайтеся утвердити ваше покликання та обрання, тому що роблячи так, ніколи не спіткнетеся.

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Адже таким чином щедро забезпечиться вам вхід до вічного Царства нашого Господа і Спасителя Ісуса Христа.

For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Тому я буду постійно нагадувати вам про це, хоч ви й знаєте і впевнені в теперішній істині.

Remember These Things

Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

Бо вважаю за справедливе, доки я ще в цій оселі, спонукувати вас нагадуванням,

Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

знаючи, що невдовзі покину свою оселю, як і Господь наш Ісус Христос показав мені.

Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

Дбатиму, щоб і після мого відходу ви завжди про це пам’ятали.

Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

Адже ми сповістили вам про силу та присутність Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, не йдучи за хитрими вигадками, але будучи очевидцями Його величі.

We were Eyewitnesses

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Тому що Він прийняв честь і славу від Бога Отця, коли до Нього донісся від величної слави такий голос: Це — Мій Син, Мій улюблений, Якого Я вподобав!

For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

І ми, будучи з Ним на святій горі, чули цей голос, що пролунав з неба.

And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

І ми маємо ще непорушне пророче слово. Ви добре робите, зважаючи на нього як на світильник, який світить у темному місці, — доки почне розвиднятися, і ранкова зоря засяє у ваших серцях,

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

насамперед знаючи те, що жодне пророцтво в Писанні не постає з власного тлумачення.

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

Адже пророцтво ніколи не було з волі людини, але від Бога звіщали мужі, натхнені Святим Духом.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
