And now they sin more and more,
and make for themselves metal images,
idols skillfully made of their silver,
all of them the work of craftsmen.
It is said of them,
“Those who offer human sacrifice kiss calves!”

And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.

Aber nun machen sie der Sünden viel mehr und aus ihrem Silber Bilder, wie sie es erdenken können, nämlich Götzen, welche doch eitel Schmiedewerk sind. Dennoch predigen sie von denselben: Wer die Kälber küssen will, der soll Menschen opfern.

Trotzdem haben sie noch nicht genug, sondern treiben es nur noch schlimmer: Aus Silber gießen sie Götterfiguren, wie es ihnen gefällt. Sie sagen: ›Wer Gott opfern will, muss die Stierfiguren küssen!‹ Ihre Götter sind Menschenwerk, von Handwerkern hergestellt.

Nun sündigen sie weiter und haben sich ein gegossenes Bild gemacht, Götterbilder aus ihrem Silber nach ihrem Geschmack — alles nur ein Machwerk von Handwerkern. Von ihnen sagt man: Menschen, die am Schlachtopfer teilnehmen, küssen Kälber.
