Und sie sagten zum Pharao: Wir sind gekommen, um uns als Fremde im Land aufzuhalten. Es gibt ja keine Weide für die Schafe und Ziegen deiner Knechte, denn schwer lastet die Hungersnot auf dem Land Kanaan. Nun möchten sich deine Knechte im Land Goschen niederlassen.

und sagten weiter zu Pharao: Wir sind gekommen, bei euch zu wohnen im Lande; denn deine Knechte haben nicht Weide für ihr Vieh, so hart drückt die Teuerung das Land Kanaan; so laß doch nun deine Knechte im Lande Gosen wohnen.

»Wir möchten uns gern vorübergehend in Ägypten niederlassen. Die Hungersnot in Kanaan wird immer unerträglicher, alle Weideplätze für unsere Herden sind vertrocknet. Bitte gib deine Zustimmung, dass wir in Goschen wohnen können!«

They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.
