Der Geist des HERRN sprach durch mich, sein Wort war auf meiner Zunge.
“The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me,

All die Übeltäter aber sind wie verwehte Dornen; man fasst sie nicht mit der Hand an.
“But the worthless, every one of them will be thrust away like thorns,
Because they cannot be taken in hand;

Wenn jemand sie anrühren will, rüstet er sich mit Eisen und einer Lanze; sie werden im Feuer verbrannt.

Das sind die Namen der Helden Davids: Jischbaal, der Hachmoniter, das Haupt der Drei; er schwang seine Streitaxt über achthundert Männer und erschlug sie alle auf einmal.
His Mighty Men
These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-basshebeth a Tahchemonite, chief of the captains, he was called Adino the Eznite, because of eight hundred slain by him at one time;
Nach ihm kommt der Ahoachiter Eleasar, der Sohn Dodos, unter den drei Helden. Er war bei David, als sie die Philister mit Schmach bedeckten. Sie sammelten sich dort zum Krieg. Als sich die Israeliten zurückzogen,
and after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there to battle and the men of Israel had withdrawn.
hielt er stand und schlug auf die Philister ein, bis seine Hand erlahmte. Seine Hand blieb am Schwert haften. So bewirkte der HERR an jenem Tag einen großen Sieg. Das Volk kehrte wieder um und folgte Eleasar, aber nur noch, um zu plündern.
He arose and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary and clung to the sword, and the LORD brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to strip the slain.
Nach ihm kommt der Harariter Schamma, der Sohn Ages. Einst versammelten sich die Philister bei Lehi. Dort war ein Linsenfeld. Als das Volk vor den Philistern floh,
Now after him was Shammah the son of Agee a Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered into a troop where there was a plot of ground full of lentils, and the people fled from the Philistines.
stellte sich Schamma mitten in das Feld, behauptete es und schlug die Philister. So verlieh ihm der HERR einen großen Sieg.
But he took his stand in the midst of the plot, defended it and struck the Philistines; and the LORD brought about a great victory.
Als sich einst das Lager der Philister in der Rafaïterebene befand, kamen drei von den Dreißig zu Beginn der Ernte hinab zur Höhle Adullam.
Then three of the thirty chief men went down and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam, while the troop of the Philistines was camping in the valley of Rephaim.
David hielt sich damals in der Bergfestung auf und ein Posten der Philister lag in Betlehem.
David was then in the stronghold, while the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
Da verspürte David ein Verlangen und er sagte: Wer bringt mir Wasser aus der Zisterne am Tor von Betlehem?
David had a craving and said, “Oh that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem which is by the gate!”
Da drangen die drei Helden in das Lager der Philister ein, schöpften Wasser aus der Zisterne am Tor von Betlehem, nahmen es mit und brachten es David. Doch er wollte es nicht trinken, sondern goss es für den HERRN als Trankopfer aus
So the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water from the well of Bethlehem which was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David. Nevertheless he would not drink it, but poured it out to the LORD;
und sagte: Das sei fern von mir, HERR, dass ich so etwas tue. Ist es nicht sozusagen das Blut der Männer, die unter Lebensgefahr hingegangen sind? Darum wollte er es nicht trinken. Eine solche Tat vollbrachten die drei Helden.
and he said, “Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this. Shall I drink the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives?” Therefore he would not drink it. These things the three mighty men did.
Joabs Bruder Abischai, der Sohn der Zeruja, war der Anführer der Dreißig. Er schwang seinen Speer über dreihundert Männer und erschlug sie; bei den drei Helden hatte er einen großen Namen.
Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the thirty. And he swung his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name as well as the three.
Unter den Dreißig war er hochgeehrt und er wurde ihr Anführer, aber an die Drei reichte er nicht heran.
He was most honored of the thirty, therefore he became their commander; however, he did not attain to the three.
Benaja aus Kabzeel, der Sohn Jojadas, war ein tapferer Mann, der große Taten vollbrachte. Er erschlug die beiden Söhne Ariëls aus Moab. Als einmal Schnee gefallen war, kam er zu einer Zisterne und erlegte darin einen Löwen.
Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.
Auch erschlug er einen Ägypter, einen Furcht erregenden Mann. Der Ägypter hatte einen Speer in der Hand. Benaja aber ging nur mit einem Stock auf ihn los, riss ihm den Speer aus der Hand und tötete ihn mit diesem Speer.
He killed an Egyptian, an impressive man. Now the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, but he went down to him with a club and snatched the spear from the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear.
Solche Taten vollbrachte Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas. Er hatte bei den drei Helden einen großen Namen.
These things Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did, and had a name as well as the three mighty men.
Unter den Dreißig war er hochgeehrt, aber an die Drei reichte er nicht heran. David stellte ihn an die Spitze seiner Leibwache.
He was honored among the thirty, but he did not attain to the three. And David appointed him over his guard.
Zu den Dreißig gehörte Joabs Bruder Asaël, ferner Elhanan aus Betlehem, der Sohn Dodos,
Asahel the brother of Joab was among the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
Helez aus Pelet, Ira aus Tekoa, der Sohn des Ikkesch,
Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
Heled aus Netofa, der Sohn Baanas, Ittai aus Gibea in Benjamin, der Sohn Ribais,
Heleb the son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the sons of Benjamin,
Benaja aus Piraton, Hiddai aus Nahale-Gaasch,
Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,
Eljachba aus Schaalbon, die Söhne Jaschens, Jonatan,
Eliahba the Shaalbonite, the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
der Sohn des Schamma aus Harar, Ahiam aus Harar, der Sohn Scharars,
Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite,
Elifelet aus Maacha, der Sohn Ahasbais, Eliam aus Gilo, der Sohn Ahitofels,
Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maacathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
Jigal aus Zoba, der Sohn Natans, Mibhar aus Gad,
Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,
Zelek, der Ammoniter, Nachrai aus Beerot, der Waffenträger Joabs, des Sohnes der Zeruja,
Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armor bearers of Joab the son of Zeruiah,
