Then it came to pass, in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went down to visit the king of Israel.
sagte der König von Israel zu seinen Beamten: Ihr wisst doch, dass Ramot-Gilead uns gehört. Wir aber zögern, es der Hand des Königs von Aram zu entreißen.
And the king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, but we hesitate to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?”
Und er fragte Joschafat: Würdest du mit mir gegen Ramot-Gilead in den Krieg ziehen? Dieser antwortete dem König von Israel: Ich ziehe mit dir, mein Volk mit deinem Volk, meine Pferde mit deinen Pferden.
So he said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to fight at Ramoth Gilead?”
Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

Joschafat bat aber den König von Israel: Hole doch zuvor das Wort des HERRN ein!
Also Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire for the word of the Lord today.”
Da versammelte der König von Israel die Propheten, gegen vierhundert Mann, und fragte sie: Soll ich gegen Ramot-Gilead zu Felde ziehen oder soll ich es lassen? Sie gaben den Bescheid: Zieh hinauf! Der Herr gibt die Stadt in die Hand des Königs.
Doch Joschafat sagte: Ist hier sonst kein Prophet des HERRN, den wir befragen könnten?
Der König von Israel antwortete Joschafat: Es ist noch einer da, durch den wir den HERRN befragen könnten. Doch ich hasse ihn; denn er weissagt mir nie Gutes, sondern immer nur Schlimmes. Es ist Micha, der Sohn Jimlas. Joschafat erwiderte: Der König sage das nicht.
So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.”
And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say such things!”
And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say such things!”
Da rief der König von Israel einen Hofbeamten und befahl ihm: Hole unverzüglich Micha, den Sohn Jimlas, herbei!
Then the king of Israel called an officer and said, “Bring Micaiah the son of Imlah quickly!”

The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, having put on their robes, sat each on his throne, at a threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
Zidkija, der Sohn Kenaanas, hatte sich eiserne Hörner gemacht und rief: So spricht der HERR: Mit diesen wirst du die Aramäer niederstoßen, bis du sie vernichtet hast.
Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made horns of iron for himself; and he said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘With these you shall gore the Syrians until they are destroyed.’ ”
Alle Propheten weissagten in gleicher Weise und riefen: Zieh nach Ramot-Gilead und sei erfolgreich; der HERR gibt die Stadt in die Hand des Königs.
And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead and prosper, for the Lord will deliver it into the king’s hand.”
Der Bote aber, der gegangen war, um Micha zu rufen, redete ihm zu: Die Worte der Propheten waren ohne Ausnahme günstig für den König. Mögen deine Worte ihren Worten gleichen. Sag daher Gutes an!
Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Now listen, the words of the prophets with one accord encourage the king. Please, let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak encouragement.”
Doch Micha erwiderte: So wahr der HERR lebt: Nur was der HERR mir sagt, werde ich sagen.
And Micaiah said, “As the Lord lives, whatever the Lord says to me, that I will speak.”
Als er zum König kam, fragte ihn dieser: Micha, sollen wir gegen Ramot-Gilead zu Felde ziehen oder sollen wir es lassen? Micha antwortete: Zieh hinauf und sei erfolgreich! Der HERR gibt die Stadt in die Hand des Königs.
Then he came to the king; and the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall we refrain?”
And he answered him, “Go and prosper, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king!”
And he answered him, “Go and prosper, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king!”
Doch der König entgegnete: Wie oft muss ich dich beschwören, mir im Namen des HERRN nur die Wahrheit zu sagen?
So the king said to him, “How many times shall I make you swear that you tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?”
Da sagte Micha: Ich sah ganz Israel über die Berge zerstreut wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben. Und der HERR sagte: Sie haben keine Herren mehr. So gehe jeder in Frieden nach Hause.
Then he said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And the Lord said, ‘These have no master. Let each return to his house in peace.’ ”
Da wandte sich der König von Israel an Joschafat: Habe ich es dir nicht gesagt? Er weissagt mir nie Gutes, sondern immer nur Schlimmes.
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”
Micha aber fuhr fort: Darum — höre das Wort des HERRN: Ich sah den HERRN auf seinem Thron sitzen; das ganze Heer des Himmels stand zu seiner Rechten und seiner Linken.
Then Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by, on His right hand and on His left.
Und der HERR fragte: Wer will Ahab betören, sodass er nach Ramot-Gilead hinaufzieht und dort fällt? Da hatte der eine diesen, der andere jenen Vorschlag.
And the Lord said, ‘Who will persuade Ahab to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner.
Da trat der Geist vor, stellte sich vor den HERRN und sagte: Ich werde ihn betören. Der HERR fragte ihn: Auf welche Weise?
Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’
Er gab zur Antwort: Ich werde mich aufmachen und zu einem Lügengeist im Mund all seiner Propheten werden. Da sagte der HERR: Du wirst ihn betören; du vermagst es. Geh hin und tu das!
The Lord said to him, ‘In what way?’ So he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said, ‘You shall persuade him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.’
So hat der HERR jetzt einen Geist der Lüge in den Mund all dieser deiner Propheten gelegt; denn er hat über dich Unheil beschlossen.
Therefore look! The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”
Da trat Zidkija, der Sohn Kenaanas, zu Micha, schlug ihn ins Gesicht und rief: Wie, sollte denn der Geist des HERRN von mir gewichen sein, um mit dir zu reden?
Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the spirit from the Lord go from me to speak to you?”
Micha erwiderte: Du wirst es an jenem Tag erfahren, an dem du von einem Gemach in das andere eilst, um dich zu verstecken.
And Micaiah said, “Indeed, you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide!”
Der König von Israel aber gab den Befehl: Nehmt Micha fest, führt ihn zum Stadtobersten Amon und zum Prinzen Joasch
So the king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son;
und meldet: So spricht der König: Werft diesen Mann ins Gefängnis und haltet ihn streng bei Brot und Wasser, bis ich wohlbehalten zurückkomme!
and say, ‘Thus says the king: “Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I come in peace.” ’ ”
Doch Micha erwiderte: Wenn du heil und wohlbehalten zurückkommst, dann hat der HERR nicht durch mich geredet. Und er sagte: Hört, all ihr Völker!
But Micaiah said, “If you ever return in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said, “Take heed, all you people!”
Darauf zog der König von Israel mit Joschafat, dem König von Juda, gegen Ramot-Gilead.
Ahab Dies in Battle
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
Der König von Israel sagte zu Joschafat: Ich will mich verkleiden und so in den Kampf ziehen. Du aber behalte deine Gewänder an! So ging der König von Israel verkleidet in den Kampf.
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into battle; but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.
Der König von Aram hatte aber den zweiunddreißig Obersten seiner Kriegswagen befohlen: Greift niemanden an, er sei hohen oder niederen Ranges, außer den König von Israel!
Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, “Fight with no one small or great, but only with the king of Israel.”
Als daher die Obersten der Kriegswagen Joschafat erblickten und ihn für den König von Israel hielten, stürmten sie auf ihn ein, sodass er um Hilfe schrie.
So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, “Surely it is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned aside to fight against him, and Jehoshaphat cried out.

And it happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
Ein Mann aber spannte aufs Geratewohl seinen Bogen und traf den König von Israel zwischen Panzer und Leibgurt. Dieser befahl daher seinem Wagenlenker: Wende um und bring mich aus der Schlacht; denn ich bin verwundet.
Now a certain man drew a bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. So he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am wounded.”
Da aber die Schlacht an jenem Tag heftig wurde, blieb der König im Kampf gegen die Aramäer aufrecht im Wagen stehen. Am Abend starb er. Das Blut der Wunde war in das Innere des Wagens geflossen.
The battle increased that day; and the king was propped up in his chariot, facing the Syrians, and died at evening. The blood ran out from the wound onto the floor of the chariot.
Bei Sonnenuntergang ließ man im Lager ausrufen: Jeder kehre in seine Stadt, in sein Land zurück!
Then, as the sun was going down, a shout went throughout the army, saying, “Every man to his city, and every man to his own country!”
So starb der König; man brachte ihn nach Samaria und begrub ihn dort.
So the king died, and was brought to Samaria. And they buried the king in Samaria.
Als man im Teich von Samaria den Wagen ausspülte, leckten Hunde sein Blut und Dirnen wuschen sich darin, nach dem Wort, das der HERR gesprochen hatte.
Die übrige Geschichte Ahabs und alle seine Taten, der Bericht über das Elfenbeinhaus, das er gebaut, und die Städte, die er ausgebaut hat, sind aufgezeichnet in der Chronik der Könige von Israel.
Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, the ivory house which he built and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
Ahab entschlief zu seinen Vätern und sein Sohn Ahasja wurde König an seiner Stelle.
Im vierten Jahr des Königs Ahab von Israel wurde Joschafat, der Sohn Asas, König von Juda.
Jehoshaphat Reigns in Judah
Jehoshaphat the son of Asa had become king over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
Jehoshaphat the son of Asa had become king over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
Er war fünfunddreißig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte fünfundzwanzig Jahre in Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Asuba und war eine Tochter Schilhis.
Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
Er folgte ganz den Wegen seines Vaters Asa, ohne von ihnen abzuweichen, und tat, was dem HERRN gefiel.
And he walked in all the ways of his father Asa. He did not turn aside from them, doing what was right in the eyes of the Lord. Nevertheless the high places were not taken away, for the people offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.
Nur die Kulthöhen verschwanden nicht. Das Volk brachte noch Schlacht- und Rauchopfer auf ihnen dar.
Also Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
Joschafat hatte auch Frieden mit dem König von Israel.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, the might that he showed, and how he made war, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
Die übrige Geschichte Joschafats, die Erfolge, die er errang, und die Kriege, die er führte, sind aufgezeichnet in der Chronik der Könige von Juda.

There was then no king in Edom, only a deputy of the king.

Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, “Let my servants go with your servants in the ships.” But Jehoshaphat would not.
Damals sagte Ahasja, der Sohn Ahabs, zu Joschafat: Meine Leute sollen mit deinen Leuten auf den Schiffen fahren. Doch Joschafat lehnte es ab. —
Joschafat entschlief zu seinen Vätern und wurde bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt seines Vaters David begraben. Sein Sohn Joram wurde König an seiner Stelle.
Ahaziah Reigns in Israel
Ahaziah the son of Ahab became king over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.

Im siebzehnten Jahr des Königs Joschafat von Juda wurde Ahasja, der Sohn Ahabs, in Samaria König von Israel. Er regierte zwei Jahre über Israel
He did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin;
und tat, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN. Er folgte den Wegen seines Vaters und seiner Mutter und den Wegen Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel zur Sünde verführt hatte.
