Manasseh King of Judah
Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years. His mother’s name was Hephzibah.

Er tat, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN, und ahmte die Gräuel der Völker nach, die der HERR vor den Israeliten vertrieben hatte.
He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, following the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites.
Er baute die Kulthöhen wieder auf, die sein Vater Hiskija zerstört hatte, errichtete Altäre für den Baal, ließ einen Kultpfahl anfertigen, wie es schon Ahab, der König von Israel, getan hatte, warf sich vor dem ganzen Heer des Himmels nieder und diente ihm.
He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had destroyed; he also erected altars to Baal and made an Asherah pole, as Ahab king of Israel had done. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshiped them.
Auch baute er Altäre im Haus des HERRN, obwohl der HERR gesagt hatte: Auf Jerusalem will ich meinen Namen legen.
He built altars in the temple of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, “In Jerusalem I will put my Name.”
In den beiden Höfen des Tempels baute er Altäre für das ganze Heer des Himmels.
In the two courts of the temple of the Lord, he built altars to all the starry hosts.
Er ließ seinen Sohn durch das Feuer gehen, trieb Zauberei und Wahrsagerei, bestellte Totenbeschwörer und Zeichendeuter. So tat er vieles, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN und ihn erzürnte.
He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced divination, sought omens, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger.
Er brachte auch den Kultpfahl, den er hatte anfertigen lassen, in das Haus, von dem der HERR zu David und dessen Sohn Salomo gesagt hatte: Auf dieses Haus und auf Jerusalem, das ich aus allen Stämmen Israels auserwählt habe, will ich meinen Namen auf ewig legen.
He took the carved Asherah pole he had made and put it in the temple, of which the Lord had said to David and to his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever.
Ich werde Israels Fuß nicht mehr von dem Boden vertreiben, den ich ihren Vätern gegeben habe, wenn sie nur alles befolgen, was ich ihnen geboten habe, und die ganze Weisung einhalten, die ihnen mein Knecht Mose gegeben hat.
I will not again make the feet of the Israelites wander from the land I gave their ancestors, if only they will be careful to do everything I commanded them and will keep the whole Law that my servant Moses gave them.”
Doch sie hörten nicht und Manasse verführte sie, noch Schlimmeres zu tun als die Völker, die der HERR vor den Augen der Israeliten vernichtet hatte.
But the people did not listen. Manasseh led them astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the Lord had destroyed before the Israelites.
Da ließ der HERR durch seine Knechte, die Propheten, sagen:
The Lord said through his servants the prophets:
Weil Manasse, der König von Juda, diese Gräuel verübt und noch Schlimmeres getrieben hat als die Amoriter vor ihm, weil er auch Juda durch seine Götzen zur Sünde verführt hat,
“Manasseh king of Judah has committed these detestable sins. He has done more evil than the Amorites who preceded him and has led Judah into sin with his idols.
darum — so spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Ich bringe Unheil über Jerusalem und Juda, sodass jedem, der davon hört, beide Ohren gellen werden.
Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I am going to bring such disaster on Jerusalem and Judah that the ears of everyone who hears of it will tingle.
Ich will an Jerusalem die Messschnur Samarias und die Waage des Hauses Ahab anlegen und Jerusalem auswischen, wie man eine Schüssel auswischt und dann umdreht.
I will stretch out over Jerusalem the measuring line used against Samaria and the plumb line used against the house of Ahab. I will wipe out Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.
Den Rest meines Erbbesitzes will ich preisgeben und den Feinden ausliefern. So wird mein Volk ein Raub und eine Beute all seiner Feinde werden;
I will forsake the remnant of my inheritance and give them into the hands of enemies. They will be looted and plundered by all their enemies;
denn es hat getan, was mir missfällt und mich erzürnt seit dem Tag, da seine Väter aus Ägypten zogen, bis zum heutigen Tag.
they have done evil in my eyes and have aroused my anger from the day their ancestors came out of Egypt until this day.”
Auch vergoss Manasse unschuldiges Blut in großer Menge, bis er Jerusalem von einem Ende zum andern damit anfüllte. Außerdem verführte er Juda zur Sünde, sodass es tat, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN.
Moreover, Manasseh also shed so much innocent blood that he filled Jerusalem from end to end — besides the sin that he had caused Judah to commit, so that they did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
Die übrige Geschichte Manasses, alle seine Taten und die Sünden, die er beging, sind aufgezeichnet in der Chronik der Könige von Juda.
As for the other events of Manasseh’s reign, and all he did, including the sin he committed, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?
Manasse entschlief zu seinen Vätern und wurde im Garten seines Hauses, im Garten Usas, begraben. Sein Sohn Amon wurde König an seiner Stelle.
Manasseh rested with his ancestors and was buried in his palace garden, the garden of Uzza. And Amon his son succeeded him as king.
Amon war zweiundzwanzig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte zwei Jahre in Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Meschullemet und war eine Tochter des Haruz aus Jotba.

Wie sein Vater Manasse tat er, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN,
He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, as his father Manasseh had done.
und folgte ganz den Wegen, die sein Vater gegangen war. Er diente den Götzen, die sein Vater verehrt hatte, und warf sich vor ihnen nieder.
He followed completely the ways of his father, worshiping the idols his father had worshiped, and bowing down to them.
Er verließ den HERRN, den Gott seiner Väter, und hielt sich nicht an die Wege des HERRN.
He forsook the Lord, the God of his ancestors, and did not walk in obedience to him.
Gegen ihn zettelten seine Diener eine Verschwörung an und töteten ihn in seinem Haus.
Amon’s officials conspired against him and assassinated the king in his palace.
Doch die Bürger des Landes erschlugen alle, die sich gegen den König Amon verschworen hatten, und machten seinen Sohn Joschija zum König an seiner Stelle.
Then the people of the land killed all who had plotted against King Amon, and they made Josiah his son king in his place.
