Doch es gibt etwas, das auf der Erde getan wurde und Windhauch ist: Es gibt gesetzestreue Menschen, denen es so ergeht, als hätten sie wie Gesetzesbrecher gehandelt; und es gibt Gesetzesbrecher, denen es so ergeht, als hätten sie wie Gesetzestreue gehandelt. Ich schloss daraus, dass auch dies Windhauch ist.

Es ist eine Eitelkeit, die auf Erden geschieht: es sind Gerechte, denen geht es, als hätten sie Werke der Gottlosen, und sind Gottlose, denen geht es, als hätten sie Werke der Gerechten. Ich sprach: Das ist auch eitel.

Und trotzdem geschieht so vieles auf der Welt, das keinen Sinn ergibt: Da geht es rechtschaffenen Menschen so schlecht, wie es den Gottlosen gehen sollte. Und da haben Gottlose ein so schönes Leben, als hätten sie Gottes Gebote befolgt. Das kommt mir alles so sinnlos vor!

God's Ways are Mysterious
There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity. -
