So hat der HERR zu mir gesagt: Geh, kauf dir einen Schurz aus Leinen und leg ihn dir um die Hüften, aber tauch ihn nicht ins Wasser!
The Ruined Waistband
Thus the LORD said to me, “Go and buy yourself a linen waistband and put it around your waist, but do not put it in water.”

Da kaufte ich den Schurz nach dem Wort des HERRN und legte ihn mir um die Hüften.
So I bought the waistband in accordance with the word of the LORD and put it around my waist.
Nun erging das Wort des HERRN zum zweiten Mal an mich; er sagte:
Then the word of the LORD came to me a second time, saying,
Nimm den gekauften Schurz, den du um die Hüften trägst! Mach dich auf, geh an den Eufrat und verbirg ihn dort in einer Felsspalte!
“Take the waistband that you have bought, which is around your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates and hide it there in a crevice of the rock.”
Ich ging hin und verbarg ihn am Eufrat, wie mir der HERR befohlen hatte.
So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as the LORD had commanded me.
Nach längerer Zeit sprach der HERR zu mir: Mach dich auf, geh an den Eufrat und hol von dort den Schurz, den ich dir dort zu verbergen aufgetragen habe!
After many days the LORD said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates and take from there the waistband which I commanded you to hide there.”
Da ging ich zum Eufrat, grub und nahm den Schurz von der Stelle, wo ich ihn verborgen hatte. Und siehe: Der Schurz war verdorben, zu nichts mehr zu gebrauchen.
Then I went to the Euphrates and dug, and I took the waistband from the place where I had hidden it; and lo, the waistband was ruined, it was totally worthless.
So spricht der HERR: Ebenso verderbe ich den Hochmut Judas und den großen Hochmut Jerusalems.
“Thus says the LORD, ‘Just so will I destroy the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.
Dieses böse Volk weigert sich, auf meine Worte zu hören, es folgt der Verstocktheit seines Herzens und läuft anderen Göttern nach, um ihnen zu dienen und sich vor ihnen niederzuwerfen; es soll daher wie dieser Schurz werden, der zu nichts mehr zu gebrauchen ist.
‘This wicked people, who refuse to listen to My words, who walk in the stubbornness of their hearts and have gone after other gods to serve them and to bow down to them, let them be just like this waistband which is totally worthless.
Denn wie sich der Schurz den Hüften des Mannes anschmiegt, so wollte ich, dass sich das ganze Haus Israel und das ganze Haus Juda mir anschmiegen — Spruch des HERRN — , damit sie mir Volk zum Ruhm, zum Preis und zum Schmuck seien. Sie aber haben nicht gehört.
‘For as the waistband clings to the waist of a man, so I made the whole household of Israel and the whole household of Judah cling to Me,’ declares the LORD, ‘that they might be for Me a people, for renown, for praise and for glory; but they did not listen.’
Du sollst ihnen das folgende Wort ausrichten: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Jeden Krug kann man mit Wein füllen. Wenn sie dir darauf erwidern: Wissen wir nicht selbst, dass man jeden Krug mit Wein füllen kann?,
Captivity Threatened
“Therefore you are to speak this word to them, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, “Every jug is to be filled with wine.”’ And when they say to you, ‘Do we not very well know that every jug is to be filled with wine?’
dann sollst du ihnen antworten: So spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich fülle alle Bewohner dieses Landes mit Trunkenheit, die Könige, die auf Davids Thron sitzen, die Priester, die Propheten und alle Einwohner Jerusalems.
then say to them, ‘Thus says the LORD, “Behold I am about to fill all the inhabitants of this land — the kings that sit for David on his throne, the priests, the prophets and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem — with drunkenness!
Ich werde sie zerschmettern, einen am andern, die Väter und die Söhne zusammen — Spruch des HERRN. Ich habe keine Schonung, kein Mitleid und kein Erbarmen, wenn ich sie vernichte.
“I will dash them against each other, both the fathers and the sons together,” declares the LORD. “I will not show pity nor be sorry nor have compassion so as not to destroy them.”’”
Hört und merkt auf! Seid nicht hochmütig; denn der HERR redet.
Listen and give heed, do not be haughty,
For the LORD has spoken.

Erweist dem HERRN, eurem Gott, die Ehre, bevor er es dunkel werden lässt, bevor eure Füße sich stoßen auf Bergen der Dämmerung. Wartet ihr dann auf das Licht — er verwandelt es in Finsternis und macht es zur Dunkelheit.

Wenn ihr aber darauf nicht hört, so muss ich im Verborgenen weinen über den Hochmut und mein Auge muss ohne Unterlass Tränen vergießen, da die Herde des HERRN weggeführt wird.

Sag zum König und zur Herrin: Setzt euch tief hinunter, denn euer Kopfschmuck, die Krone eures Ruhms, ist herabgefallen!
Say to the king and the queen mother,
“Take a lowly seat,
For your beautiful crown
Has come down from your head.”

Die Städte im Negeb sind verschlossen und niemand kann sie öffnen. Weggeführt wird ganz Juda, vollständig weggeführt.

Erhebt eure Augen und seht, wie sie kommen vom Norden! Wo ist die Herde, die dir anvertraut war, wo sind die Schafe deines Ruhms?
“Lift up your eyes and see
Those coming from the north.
Where is the flock that was given you,

Was wirst du sagen, wenn man die Freunde, die du selbst an dich gewöhnt hast, als Herren über dich setzt? Werden dich nicht Wehen ergreifen wie eine gebärende Frau?
“What will you say when He appoints over you —
And you yourself had taught them —
Former companions to be head over you?
Will not pangs take hold of you
Like a woman in childbirth?

Wenn du aber fragst in deinem Herzen: Warum hat mich das alles getroffen? Wegen deiner großen Schuld wird dein Gewand aufgehoben und dein Leib vergewaltigt.

‘Why have these things happened to me?’

Kann ein Kuschit seine Hautfarbe oder ein Leopard die Flecken seines Fells verändern? Dann könntet auch ihr, die ihr ans Böse gewöhnt seid, Gutes tun.
“Can the Ethiopian change his skin

So aber zerstreue ich euch wie Spreu, die verfliegt im Wüstenwind.
“Therefore I will scatter them like drifting straw
To the desert wind.

Das ist dein Los, dein Lohn, von mir dir zugemessen — Spruch des HERRN — , weil du mich vergessen und dich auf Lügen verlassen hast.

Nun hebe auch ich deine Schleppe auf, bis über dein Gesicht, sodass deine Schande offenbar wird,
“So I Myself have also stripped your skirts off over your face,
That your shame may be seen.

deine Ehebrüche, dein geiles Wiehern, deine schändliche Unzucht. Auf den Hügeln und auf dem Feld habe ich deine Gräuel gesehen. Weh dir, Jerusalem, weil du dich nicht reinigst — wie lange noch?
“As for your adulteries and your lustful neighings,
The lewdness of your prostitution
On the hills in the field,
I have seen your abominations.
Woe to you, O Jerusalem!
How long will you remain unclean?”
