Im ersten Monat kam die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten in die Wüste Zin und das Volk ließ sich in Kadesch nieder. Dort starb Mirjam und wurde auch dort begraben.
Death of Miriam
Then the sons of Israel, the whole congregation, came to the wilderness of Zin in the first month; and the people stayed at Kadesh. Now Miriam died there and was buried there.

Da die Gemeinde kein Wasser hatte, rotteten sie sich gegen Mose und Aaron zusammen.
There was no water for the congregation, and they assembled themselves against Moses and Aaron.
Das Volk haderte mit Mose; sie sagten: Wären wir doch umgekommen, als unsere Brüder vor dem HERRN umkamen.
The people thus contended with Moses and spoke, saying, “If only we had perished when our brothers perished before the LORD!
Warum habt ihr das Volk des HERRN in diese Wüste geführt? Nur damit wir hier zusammen mit unserem Vieh sterben?
“Why then have you brought the LORD’S assembly into this wilderness, for us and our beasts to die here?
Wozu habt ihr uns aus Ägypten hierher geführt? Nur um uns an diesen elenden Ort zu bringen, eine Gegend ohne Korn und Feigen, ohne Wein und Granatäpfel? Nicht einmal Trinkwasser gibt es.
“Why have you made us come up from Egypt, to bring us in to this wretched place? It is not a place of grain or figs or vines or pomegranates, nor is there water to drink.”
Mose und Aaron verließen die Versammlung, gingen zum Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes und warfen sich auf ihr Gesicht nieder. Da erschien ihnen die Herrlichkeit des HERRN.
Then Moses and Aaron came in from the presence of the assembly to the doorway of the tent of meeting and fell on their faces. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to them;
Nimm den Stab und versammle die Gemeinde, du und dein Bruder Aaron! Sagt vor ihren Augen zu dem Felsen, er solle sein Wasser spenden! Auf diese Weise wirst du für sie Wasser aus dem Felsen fließen lassen und der Gemeinde und ihrem Vieh zu trinken geben.
The Water of Meribah
“Take the rod; and you and your brother Aaron assemble the congregation and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it may yield its water. You shall thus bring forth water for them out of the rock and let the congregation and their beasts drink.”
Mose holte den Stab von seinem Platz vor dem HERRN, wie der HERR ihm geboten hatte.
So Moses took the rod from before the LORD, just as He had commanded him;
Mose und Aaron riefen die Versammlung vor dem Felsen zusammen und Mose sagte zu ihnen: Hört, ihr Meuterer, können wir euch wohl aus diesem Felsen Wasser fließen lassen?
and Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly before the rock. And he said to them, “Listen now, you rebels; shall we bring forth water for you out of this rock?”
Dann hob er seine Hand hoch und schlug mit seinem Stab zweimal auf den Felsen. Da kam Wasser heraus, viel Wasser, und die Gemeinde und ihr Vieh konnten trinken.
Then Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation and their beasts drank.
Der HERR aber sprach zu Mose und Aaron: Weil ihr mir nicht geglaubt habt, um mich vor den Augen der Israeliten zu heiligen, darum werdet ihr diese Versammlung nicht in das Land hineinführen, das ich ihnen gegeben habe.
But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you have not believed Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”
Das ist das Wasser von Meriba, Streit, weil die Israeliten mit dem HERRN gestritten haben und er sich als der Heilige erwiesen hat.
Those were the waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel contended with the LORD, and He proved Himself holy among them.
Mose schickte von Kadesch aus Boten zum König von Edom und ließ ihm sagen: So sagt dein Bruder Israel: Du kennst alle Mühsal, die uns getroffen hat.
From Kadesh Moses then sent messengers to the king of Edom: “Thus your brother Israel has said, ‘You know all the hardship that has befallen us;
Unsere Väter sind nach Ägypten gezogen und wir haben viele Jahre in Ägypten gewohnt. Aber die Ägypter haben uns und unsere Väter schlecht behandelt.
that our fathers went down to Egypt, and we stayed in Egypt a long time, and the Egyptians treated us and our fathers badly.
Da haben wir zum HERRN geschrien und er hat uns gehört. Er schickte einen Boten und er führte uns aus Ägypten heraus. Und siehe, jetzt sind wir in Kadesch, einer Stadt an der Grenze deines Gebietes.
‘But when we cried out to the LORD, He heard our voice and sent an angel and brought us out from Egypt; now behold, we are at Kadesh, a town on the edge of your territory.
Wir möchten durch dein Land ziehen. Wir werden eure Felder und Weinberge nicht betreten und kein Brunnenwasser trinken. Wir werden die Königsstraße benutzen und weder rechts noch links davon abbiegen, bis wir dein Gebiet durchzogen haben.
‘Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or through vineyard; we will not even drink water from a well. We will go along the king’s highway, not turning to the right or left, until we pass through your territory.’”
Edom aber sprach zu ihm: Du wirst bei mir nicht durchziehen, sonst ziehe ich dir mit dem Schwert entgegen.
Edom, however, said to him, “You shall not pass through us, or I will come out with the sword against you.”
Da sagten die Israeliten zu ihm: Wir wollen auf der Straße ziehen. Und wenn wir von deinem Wasser trinken, ich und meine Herden, dann zahle ich dafür. Ich will nichts anderes, nur zu Fuß durch dein Land ziehen.
Again, the sons of Israel said to him, “We will go up by the highway, and if I and my livestock do drink any of your water, then I will pay its price. Let me only pass through on my feet, nothing else.”
Aber Edom sagte: Du wirst nicht durchziehen. Und Edom zog Israel entgegen mit mächtigem Volk und mit starker Hand.
But he said, “You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against him with a heavy force and with a strong hand.
Da Edom sich also weigerte, Israel durch sein Gebiet ziehen zu lassen, musste Israel einen Umweg machen.
Thus Edom refused to allow Israel to pass through his territory; so Israel turned away from him.
Die Israeliten brachen von Kadesch auf und die ganze Gemeinde kam zum Berg Hor.
Now when they set out from Kadesh, the sons of Israel, the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor.
Am Berg Hor, an der Grenze von Edom, sprach der HERR zu Mose und Aaron:
Death of Aaron
Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor by the border of the land of Edom, saying,
Aaron wird jetzt mit seinen Vorfahren vereint; er wird nicht in das Land kommen, das ich für die Israeliten bestimmt habe; denn ihr habt euch am Wasser von Meriba gegen meinen Befehl aufgelehnt.
“Aaron will be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter the land which I have given to the sons of Israel, because you rebelled against My command at the waters of Meribah.
Nimm Aaron und seinen Sohn Eleasar und führ sie auf den Berg Hor hinauf!
“Take Aaron and his son Eleazar and bring them up to Mount Hor;
Dann nimm Aaron seine Gewänder ab und leg sie seinem Sohn Eleasar an! Aaron wird dort mit seinen Vätern vereint werden und sterben.
and strip Aaron of his garments and put them on his son Eleazar. So Aaron will be gathered to his people, and will die there.”
Mose tat, was ihm der HERR geboten hatte. Sie stiegen vor den Augen der ganzen Gemeinde auf den Berg Hor.
So Moses did just as the LORD had commanded, and they went up to Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
Mose nahm Aaron die Gewänder ab und legte sie seinem Sohn Eleasar an. Dann starb Aaron dort auf dem Gipfel des Berges, Mose aber und Eleasar stiegen vom Berg herab.
After Moses had stripped Aaron of his garments and put them on his son Eleazar, Aaron died there on the mountain top. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
