Da sandte die Gemeinde 12,000 Mann dahin von streitbaren Männern und geboten ihnen und sprachen: Gehet hin und schlaget mit der Schärfe des Schwerts die Bürger zu Jabes in Gilead mit Weib und Kind.

Da wählten sie 12.000 Soldaten aus und befahlen ihnen: »Geht nach Jabesch in Gilead und tötet alle Einwohner, auch die Frauen und Kinder.
