Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek security for you, that it may be well with you?
Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek security for you, that it may be well with you?
Nun ist ja Boas, bei dessen Mägden du warst, ein Verwandter von uns. Heute Abend worfelt er die Gerste auf der Tenne.
“Now is not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maids you were? Behold, he winnows barley at the threshing floor tonight.
Wasch dich, salbe dich und zieh dein Obergewand an, dann geh zur Tenne! Zeig dich aber dem Mann nicht, bis er fertig gegessen und getrunken hat.
“Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself and put on your best clothes, and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.
Wenn er sich niederlegt, so merk dir den Ort, wo er sich hinlegt. Geh dann hin, deck den Platz zu seinen Füßen auf und leg dich dorthin! Er wird dir dann sagen, was du tun sollst.
“It shall be when he lies down, that you shall notice the place where he lies, and you shall go and uncover his feet and lie down; then he will tell you what you shall do.”
Rut antwortete ihr: Alles, was du sagst, will ich tun.
She said to her, “All that you say I will do.”
Sie ging zur Tenne und tat genauso, wie ihre Schwiegermutter ihr aufgetragen hatte.
So she went down to the threshing floor and did according to all that her mother-in-law had commanded her.
Als Boas gegessen und getrunken hatte und es ihm wohl zumute wurde, ging er hin, um sich neben dem Getreidehaufen schlafen zu legen. Nun trat sie leise heran, deckte den Platz zu seinen Füßen auf und legte sich nieder.
When Boaz had eaten and drunk and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain; and she came secretly, and uncovered his feet and lay down.
Um Mitternacht schrak der Mann auf, beugte sich vor und fand eine Frau zu seinen Füßen liegen.
It happened in the middle of the night that the man was startled and bent forward; and behold, a woman was lying at his feet.
Er fragte: Wer bist du? Sie antwortete: Ich bin Rut, deine Magd. Breite doch den Saum deines Gewandes über deine Magd; denn du bist Löser.
He said, “Who are you?” And she answered, “I am Ruth your maid. So spread your covering over your maid, for you are a close relative.”
Da sagte er: Gesegnet bist du vom HERRN, meine Tochter. So zeigst du deine Güte noch schöner als zuvor; denn du bist nicht den jungen Männern, ob arm oder reich, nachgelaufen.
Then he said, “May you be blessed of the LORD, my daughter. You have shown your last kindness to be better than the first by not going after young men, whether poor or rich.
Jetzt aber, fürchte dich nicht, meine Tochter! Alles, was du sagst, will ich dir tun; denn jeder im Tor weiß, dass du eine tüchtige Frau bist.
“Now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you whatever you ask, for all my people in the city know that you are a woman of excellence.
Gewiss, ich bin Löser, aber es gibt noch einen Löser, der näher verwandt ist als ich.
“Now it is true I am a close relative; however, there is a relative closer than I.
Bleib über Nacht, und wenn er dich dann am Morgen lösen will, gut, so mag er lösen. Wenn er dich aber nicht lösen will, so werde ich dich lösen, so wahr der HERR lebt. Bleib liegen bis zum Morgen!
“Remain this night, and when morning comes, if he will redeem you, good; let him redeem you. But if he does not wish to redeem you, then I will redeem you, as the LORD lives. Lie down until morning.”
Sie blieb zu seinen Füßen liegen bis zum Morgen. Doch noch ehe man einander erkennen konnte, stand sie auf. Denn Boas wollte nicht bekannt werden lassen, dass die Frau auf die Tenne gekommen war.
So she lay at his feet until morning and rose before one could recognize another; and he said, “Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor.”
Er sagte zu ihr: Reich mir das Tuch, das du umgelegt hast! Sie hielt es hin und er füllte sechs Maß Gerste hinein und lud es ihr auf. Dann ging er zur Stadt.
Again he said, “Give me the cloak that is on you and hold it.” So she held it, and he measured six measures of barley and laid it on her. Then she went into the city.
Rut kam nun zu ihrer Schwiegermutter und diese fragte: Wie steht es, meine Tochter? Sie erzählte ihr, wie viel Gutes ihr der Mann erwiesen hatte,
When she came to her mother-in-law, she said, “How did it go, my daughter?” And she told her all that the man had done for her.
und sagte: Diese sechs Maß Gerste hat er mir gegeben; denn er meinte: Du sollst nicht mit leeren Händen zu deiner Schwiegermutter kommen.
She said, “These six measures of barley he gave to me, for he said, ‘Do not go to your mother-in-law empty-handed.’”
Noomi antwortete ihr: Warte ab, meine Tochter, bis du erfährst, wie die Sache ausgeht; denn der Mann wird nicht ruhen, ehe er noch heute die Sache erledigt hat.
Then she said, “Wait, my daughter, until you know how the matter turns out; for the man will not rest until he has settled it today.”
