Am siebten Tag starb das Kind. Keiner der Diener wagte es, David mitzuteilen, denn sie befürchteten das Schlimmste. »Schon als das Kind noch lebte, ließ er sich durch nichts aufmuntern«, sagten sie zueinander. »Wie wird er sich erst verhalten, wenn er erfährt, dass es tot ist? Er könnte sich etwas antun!«

Am siebenten Tage aber starb das Kind. Und die Knechte Davids fürchteten sich ihm anzusagen, daß das Kind tot wäre; denn sie gedachten: Siehe, da das Kind noch lebendig war, redeten wir mit ihm, und er gehorchte unsrer Stimme nicht; wie viel mehr wird er sich wehe tun, so wir sagen: Das Kind ist tot.

Am siebten Tag aber starb das Kind. Davids Diener fürchteten sich, ihm mitzuteilen, dass das Kind tot war; denn sie sagten: Wir haben ihm zugeredet, als das Kind noch am Leben war; er aber hat nicht auf uns gehört. Wie können wir ihm jetzt sagen: Das Kind ist tot? Er würde ein Unheil anrichten.
