Hoffnung für Alle
Seitdem, o König, ist die ganze Verwandtschaft meines Mannes hinter mir her. Sie verlangen, dass ich ihnen meinen Sohn ausliefere, weil er seinen Bruder umgebracht hat. Sie wollen ihn töten und so den Mord rächen. Ja, umbringen wollen sie ihn, damit er nicht das Erbe seines Vaters antreten kann! So rauben sie mir noch den letzten Funken Hoffnung. Wenn nämlich mein zweiter Sohn auch umkommt, dann gibt es im ganzen Land niemanden mehr, der den Namen meines Mannes weiterträgt; und so stirbt seine Familie aus.«

Und siehe, nun steht auf die ganze Freundschaft wider deine Magd und sagen: Gib her den, der seinen Bruder erschlagen hat, daß wir ihn töten für die Seele seines Bruders, den er erwürgt hat, und auch den Erben vertilgen; und wollen meinen Funken auslöschen, der noch übrig ist, daß meinem Mann kein Name und nichts übriges bleibe auf Erden.

Da erhob sich die ganze Verwandtschaft gegen deine Magd. Sie sagten: Gib den, der seinen Bruder erschlagen hat, heraus, damit wir ihn töten, weil er seinen Bruder ums Leben gebracht hat. Wir wollen auch den Erben vernichten. Sie wollten die Kohle, die mir geblieben ist, auslöschen, um meinem Mann weder Namen noch Nachkommen auf dem Erdboden zu lassen.

And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.
