Zur Zeit des Abendopfers trat Elia vor den Altar und betete laut: »HERR, du Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Israels! Heute sollen alle erkennen, dass du allein der Gott unseres Volkes bist. Jeder soll sehen, dass ich dir diene und dies alles nur auf deinen Befehl hin getan habe.

Und da die Zeit war, Speisopfer zu opfern, trat Elia, der Prophet, herzu und sprach: HERR, Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Israels, laß heute kund werden, daß du Gott in Israel bist und ich dein Knecht, und daß ich solches alles nach deinem Wort getan habe!

Zu der Zeit nun, da man das Speiseopfer darzubringen pflegt, trat der Prophet Elija an den Altar und rief: HERR, Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Israels, heute soll man erkennen, dass du Gott bist in Israel, dass ich dein Knecht bin und all das in deinem Auftrag tue.
