Um die geforderte Menge an Gold aufzubringen, ließ er die Goldverkleidung der Türen und Pfosten im Tempel abreißen und übergab sie dem König von Assyrien. Hiskia hatte die Türen und Pfosten zuvor selbst vergolden lassen.

Zur selben Zeit zerbrach Hiskia, der König Juda’s, die Türen am Tempel des HERRN und die Bleche, die er selbst hatte darüberziehen lassen, und gab sie dem König von Assyrien.

Damals ließ Hiskija, der König von Juda, die Türen am Tempel des HERRN und die Pfosten, die er mit Gold und Silber überzogen hatte, zerschlagen und lieferte das Metall an den König von Assur.
