Im 10. Regierungsjahr des judäischen Königs Zedekia empfing Jeremia eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Es war das 18. Regierungsjahr König Nebukadnezars,
Jeremiah Imprisoned
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.
und das babylonische Heer belagerte damals gerade Jerusalem. Der Prophet Jeremia wurde im Wachhof beim Königspalast gefangen gehalten.
Now at that time the army of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard, which was in the house of the king of Judah,
Zedekia hatte ihn verhaften lassen, weil er immer wieder verkündet hatte: »So spricht der HERR: Ich gebe diese Stadt in die Gewalt des babylonischen Königs, er wird sie erobern.
because Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, “Why do you prophesy, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD, “Behold, I am about to give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;
Auch König Zedekia entkommt ihm nicht, er wird Nebukadnezar ganz sicher in die Hände fallen. Dann wird er ihm Auge in Auge gegenüberstehen und ihm Rechenschaft ablegen müssen.
and Zedekiah king of Judah will not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but he will surely be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will speak with him face to face and see him eye to eye;
Anschließend verschleppt man Zedekia nach Babylon, und dort wird er bleiben, bis ich, der HERR, mich wieder seiner annehme. Ihr könnt noch so sehr gegen die Babylonier kämpfen, ihr werdet doch nicht siegen!«
and he will take Zedekiah to Babylon, and he will be there until I visit him,” declares the LORD. “If you fight against the Chaldeans, you will not succeed”’?”
Dort im Wachhof empfing Jeremia also eine Botschaft vom Herrn. Er selbst berichtet darüber: Der HERR sprach zu mir:
And Jeremiah said, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
»Hanamel, der Sohn deines Onkels Schallum, wird zu dir kommen und dich auffordern, seinen Acker in Anatot zu kaufen, weil du als nächster Verwandter das Vorkaufsrecht hast.«
‘Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle is coming to you, saying, “Buy for yourself my field which is at Anathoth, for you have the right of redemption to buy it.”’
Genau wie der HERR es angekündigt hatte, kam Hanamel zu mir in den Wachhof und sagte: »Ich muss meinen Acker verkaufen, der in Anatot im Gebiet von Benjamin liegt. Du bist der nächste Verwandte und hast das Vorkaufs- und Besitzrecht. Nimm den Acker, damit er unserer Sippe nicht verloren geht!« Ich wusste, dass durch ihn der HERR zu mir sprach,
“Then Hanamel my uncle’s son came to me in the court of the guard according to the word of the LORD and said to me, ‘Buy my field, please, that is at Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for you have the right of possession and the redemption is yours; buy it for yourself.’ Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
darum kaufte ich Hanamel den Acker ab und gab ihm 17 Silberstücke dafür.
“I bought the field which was at Anathoth from Hanamel my uncle’s son, and I weighed out the silver for him, seventeen shekels of silver.
Ich unterzeichnete den Kaufvertrag, ließ die Zeugen unterschreiben und versiegelte das Schriftstück. Die Silberstücke wog ich auf der Waage ab.
“I signed and sealed the deed, and called in witnesses, and weighed out the silver on the scales.
In Gegenwart von Hanamel, der Zeugen, die den Vertrag beglaubigt hatten, und der anderen Judäer, die sich im Wachhof aufhielten, gab ich dann den versiegelten Vertrag und eine unversiegelte Abschrift Baruch, dem Sohn von Nerija und Enkel von Machseja.
“Then I took the deeds of purchase, both the sealed copy containing the terms and conditions and the open copy;
»So spricht der HERR, der allmächtige Gott Israels: Nimm diesen versiegelten Kaufvertrag und die offene Abschrift und bewahre sie in einem Tonkrug auf, damit sie lange erhalten bleiben.
‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, “Take these deeds, this sealed deed of purchase and this open deed, and put them in an earthenware jar, that they may last a long time.”
Denn ich, der HERR, der allmächtige Gott Israels, verspreche: Es kommt die Zeit, in der man in diesem Land wieder Häuser, Äcker und Weinberge kaufen wird!«
‘For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, “Houses and fields and vineyards will again be bought in this land.”’
Nachdem ich den Kaufvertrag Baruch, dem Sohn von Nerija, übergeben hatte, betete ich:

“After I had given the deed of purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, then I prayed to the LORD, saying,
»Ach, HERR, mein Gott, durch deine starke Hand und deine große Macht hast du den Himmel und die Erde geschaffen. Nichts ist dir unmöglich.
‘Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You,
Die Söhne strafst du für die Schuld ihrer Väter, aber Tausende von Generationen lässt du deine Liebe erfahren. Du bist groß und unüberwindlich; ›der HERR, der allmächtige Gott‹ wirst du genannt.
who shows lovingkindness to thousands, but repays the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their children after them, O great and mighty God. The LORD of hosts is His name;
Deine Gedanken sind weise, und alles, was du tust, zeigt deine unerschöpfliche Macht. Vor deinen Augen liegen die Wege aller Menschen offen da, du gibst jedem, was er für seine Taten verdient.
great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, giving to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds;
Du hast damals in Ägypten Zeichen und Wunder vollbracht, und so tust du es noch immer an Israel und an allen Menschen. Darum ist dein Name heute in aller Welt bekannt.
who has set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and even to this day both in Israel and among mankind; and You have made a name for Yourself, as at this day.
Du hast dein Volk Israel mit starker Hand aus Ägypten befreit, durch deine Wunder und die Zeichen deiner Macht hast du ihre Feinde in Angst und Schrecken versetzt.
‘You brought Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and with wonders, and with a strong hand and with an outstretched arm and with great terror;
Deinem Volk gabst du dieses Land, das du schon ihren Vorfahren mit einem Eid versprochen hattest, ein Land, wo es selbst Milch und Honig im Überfluss gibt.
and gave them this land, which You swore to their forefathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Doch als unsere Vorfahren es betreten und in Besitz genommen hatten, hörten sie nicht mehr auf dich, ihren Gott, sie richteten sich nicht nach deinen Geboten, und was du ihnen sagtest, war ihnen völlig gleichgültig. Darum hast du nun das Unheil über sie hereinbrechen lassen.
‘They came in and took possession of it, but they did not obey Your voice or walk in Your law; they have done nothing of all that You commanded them to do; therefore You have made all this calamity come upon them.
Schau, die Belagerungswälle reichen schon bis dicht an die Stadtmauer! Die Babylonier werden Jerusalem erobern, und wir halten ihrem Angriff nicht mehr stand, denn wir sind von Hunger und Seuchen geschwächt. Herr, sieh doch, es ist alles so gekommen, wie du es angedroht hast.
‘Behold, the siege ramps have reached the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, the famine and the pestilence; and what You have spoken has come to pass; and behold, You see it.
Und obwohl die Stadt bald den Babyloniern in die Hände fallen wird, hast du, HERR, mein Gott, mir noch befohlen, den Acker zu kaufen und den Vertrag von Zeugen beglaubigen zu lassen!«
‘You have said to me, O Lord GOD, “Buy for yourself the field with money and call in witnesses” — although the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.’”
»Ich bin der HERR, der Gott über alle Menschen. Nichts ist für mich unmöglich!
“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?”
Ihr werdet sehen: Ich liefere diese Stadt König Nebukadnezar und den Babyloniern aus.
Therefore thus says the LORD, “Behold, I am about to give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it.
Noch belagern sie Jerusalem, doch dann werden sie es erobern und niederbrennen. Alle Häuser, auf deren Dächern man für Baal Räucheropfer darbrachte und anderen Göttern Trankopfer ausgoss, werden in Flammen aufgehen. Denn die Einwohner haben meinen Zorn damit herausgefordert.
“The Chaldeans who are fighting against this city will enter and set this city on fire and burn it, with the houses where people have offered incense to Baal on their roofs and poured out drink offerings to other gods to provoke Me to anger.
Die Israeliten und die Judäer haben von Anfang an nur das getan, was ich verabscheue, ständig haben sie mich, den HERRN, zornig gemacht.
“Indeed the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah have been doing only evil in My sight from their youth; for the sons of Israel have been only provoking Me to anger by the work of their hands,” declares the LORD.
Schon als Jerusalem gegründet wurde, haben die Menschen dort mich bis aufs Äußerste gereizt, und so ist es bis heute geblieben! Darum lasse ich diese Stadt nun vom Erdboden verschwinden.
“Indeed this city has been to Me a provocation of My anger and My wrath from the day that they built it, even to this day, so that it should be removed from before My face,
Ja, mich haben sie herausgefordert mit ihrer Bosheit, die Könige und führenden Männer, die Priester, Propheten und das ganze Volk von Juda und Jerusalem.
because of all the evil of the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah which they have done to provoke Me to anger — they, their kings, their leaders, their priests, their prophets, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Sie haben mir den Rücken gekehrt und wollten nichts mehr von mir wissen. Obwohl ich ihnen immer wieder meine Weisungen gab, blieben sie unbelehrbar und weigerten sich, auf mich zu hören.
“They have turned their back to Me and not their face; though I taught them, teaching again and again, they would not listen and receive instruction.
Sogar im Tempel, der meinen Namen trägt, haben sie ihre abscheulichen Götzen aufgestellt und ihn so entweiht.
“But they put their detestable things in the house which is called by My name, to defile it.
Und nicht genug damit: Im Hinnomtal errichteten sie Opferstätten für Baal und verbrannten ihre Kinder als Opfer für den Gott Moloch. Niemals habe ich ihnen so etwas Abscheuliches befohlen, mit keinem Gedanken je daran gedacht, dass sie sich in so große Schuld verstricken sollten! Damit haben sie ganz Juda zur Sünde verführt.
“They built the high places of Baal that are in the valley of Ben-hinnom to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I had not commanded them nor had it entered My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
Ihr sagt: ›Jerusalem wird dem König von Babylonien in die Hände fallen, denn die Kämpfe, der Hunger und die Seuchen haben unseren Widerstand gebrochen.‹ Doch hört, was ich dieser Stadt verkünde, ich, der HERR und Gott Israels:
“Now therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel concerning this city of which you say, ‘It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, by famine and by pestilence.’
Zwar zerstreue ich ihre Einwohner voll glühendem Zorn in ferne Länder, aber ich will sie von dort sammeln und wieder zurückbringen, damit sie hier in Ruhe und Frieden wohnen können.
“Behold, I will gather them out of all the lands to which I have driven them in My anger, in My wrath and in great indignation; and I will bring them back to this place and make them dwell in safety.
Sie sollen mein Volk sein, und ich will wieder ihr Gott sein.
“They shall be My people, and I will be their God;
Dann werden sie nur ein Ziel haben: mich ihr Leben lang zu achten und zu ehren, denn ich selbst lege ihnen diesen Wunsch ins Herz. Darum wird es ihnen und ihren Nachkommen gut gehen.
and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me always, for their own good and for the good of their children after them.
Ich will einen Bund mit ihnen schließen, der für alle Zeiten gilt: Nie werde ich aufhören, ihnen Gutes zu tun. Ich gebe ihnen Ehrfurcht vor mir, damit sie sich nie mehr von mir abwenden.
“I will make an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will put the fear of Me in their hearts so that they will not turn away from Me.
Es wird mir Freude bereiten, ihnen Gutes zu tun, und wenn ich sie wieder in diesem Land wohnen lasse, dann tue ich dies von ganzem Herzen und bleibe auch dabei.
“I will rejoice over them to do them good and will faithfully plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul.
Ich, der HERR, verspreche: Ich lasse all das Gute eintreffen, das ich diesem Volk angekündigt habe, so wie ich auch das schreckliche Unheil über sie hereinbrechen ließ.
“For thus says the LORD, ‘Just as I brought all this great disaster on this people, so I am going to bring on them all the good that I am promising them.
Jetzt klagt ihr noch: ›Unser Land wird verwüstet und bald von Menschen und Tieren verlassen sein, denn es fällt den Babyloniern in die Hände.‹ Doch ich sage euch: Man wird im ganzen Land wieder Felder kaufen
‘Fields will be bought in this land of which you say, “It is a desolation, without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.”
und verkaufen, den Preis aushandeln und Verträge abschließen, sie von Zeugen bestätigen lassen und versiegeln: im Stammesgebiet von Benjamin, in den Dörfern um Jerusalem, in den Städten Judas und des Berglandes, in den Städten des Hügellandes im Westen und der Wüste Negev im Süden. Ich, der HERR, werde das Schicksal meines Volkes wieder zum Guten wenden. Mein Wort gilt!«
‘Men will buy fields for money, sign and seal deeds, and call in witnesses in the land of Benjamin, in the environs of Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland and in the cities of the Negev; for I will restore their fortunes,’ declares the LORD.”
