Während Jeremia im Wachhof gefangen gehalten wurde, redete der HERR ein zweites Mal mit ihm:

»So spricht der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, der bewirkt, was er will, und lenkt, was er geplant hat:
“Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it, the LORD is His name,
Rufe zu mir, dann will ich dir antworten und dir große und geheimnisvolle Dinge zeigen, von denen du nichts weißt!
‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
Ihr Einwohner von Jerusalem, hört meine Botschaft: Ihr habt Teile des Königspalasts und anderer Häuser der Stadt abgerissen. Ihr wolltet die Steine und Balken dazu verwenden, euch gegen die angreifenden Babylonier mit ihren Belagerungswällen zu schützen. Doch ich, der HERR, der Gott Israels, sage euch: In den Ruinen dieser Häuser werden überall die Leichen der Gefallenen liegen, die ich in meinem glühenden Zorn umkommen lasse. Denn wegen ihrer Bosheit habe ich mich von dieser Stadt abgewandt.
“For thus says the LORD God of Israel concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah which are broken down to make a defense against the siege ramps and against the sword,
Doch ich werde Jerusalem wiederherstellen und ihre Wunden heilen. Dann lasse ich dauerhaften Frieden und Sicherheit bei euch einkehren.
‘Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them; and I will reveal to them an abundance of peace and truth.
Ja, ich wende das Schicksal Judas und Israels zum Guten und baue das Land wieder auf wie früher.
‘I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel and will rebuild them as they were at first.
Mein Volk werde ich von aller Schuld reinwaschen. Sie haben mir die Treue gebrochen und gegen mich gesündigt, doch ich will ihnen vergeben!
‘I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned against Me and by which they have transgressed against Me.
Dann werde ich mich über Jerusalem freuen, die Stadt wird mir Ruhm und Ehre bringen; ja, alle Völker werden mich preisen, wenn sie hören, wie viel Gutes ich Jerusalem tue. Sie werden von Ehrfurcht überwältigt sein, weil ich der Stadt Glück und Frieden schenke.
‘It will be to Me a name of joy, praise and glory before all the nations of the earth which will hear of all the good that I do for them, and they will fear and tremble because of all the good and all the peace that I make for it.’
Ihr sagt: ›Unsere Stadt ist verwüstet, es leben keine Menschen und Tiere mehr darin.‹ Ja, ihr habt recht: Die Städte Judas und die Straßen Jerusalems sind wie ausgestorben. Doch ich, der HERR, verspreche euch:
“Thus says the LORD, ‘Yet again there will be heard in this place, of which you say, “It is a waste, without man and without beast,” that is, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast,
Überall wird wieder Freude und Jubel herrschen, es wird fröhliche Hochzeitsfeiern geben. Ihr werdet hören, wie die Menschen mich preisen und sagen: ›Lobt den HERRN, den allmächtigen Gott, denn er ist gut, und seine Gnade hört niemals auf!‹ Ihr werdet sehen, wie sie wieder in den Tempel gehen, um mir Dankopfer darzubringen. Ja, ich wende das Schicksal eures Landes zum Guten, so wie es früher war. Mein Wort gilt!
the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say,
“Give thanks to the LORD of hosts,
For the LORD is good,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting”;
and of those who bring a thank offering into the house of the LORD. For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were at first,’ says the LORD.

So spricht der HERR, der allmächtige Gott: Jetzt ist eure Stadt verwüstet, von Menschen und Tieren verlassen. Aber hier und in den anderen Städten wird es wieder Weideplätze geben, auf denen Hirten ihre Herden lagern lassen.
“Thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘There will again be in this place which is waste, without man or beast, and in all its cities, a habitation of shepherds who rest their flocks.
In den Städten des Berglandes und des Hügellandes im Westen, in der Wüste Negev im Süden, im Stammesgebiet von Benjamin, in den Dörfern um Jerusalem und in den Städten Judas — überall werden die Hirten wieder ihre Schafe zählen. Das verspreche ich, der HERR.«
‘In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the Negev, in the land of Benjamin, in the environs of Jerusalem and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who numbers them,’ says the LORD.
»So spricht der HERR: Es kommt die Zeit, da erfülle ich meine Verheißung für Israel und Juda.
The Davidic Kingdom
‘Behold, days are coming,’ declares the LORD, ‘when I will fulfill the good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and the house of Judah.
In jenen Tagen werde ich einen König aus der Nachkommenschaft von David hervorgehen lassen, den man wirklich als gerecht bezeichnen kann. Er wird in seinem Land für Recht und Gerechtigkeit sorgen.
‘In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth.
Unter seiner Regierung wird Juda Hilfe finden und Jerusalem in Sicherheit leben. ›Der HERR ist unsere Gerechtigkeit‹, so wird man Jerusalem nennen.
‘In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell in safety; and this is the name by which she will be called: the LORD is our righteousness.’
Ich, der HERR, sage euch: Immer wird ein Nachkomme Davids als König über Israel regieren.
“For thus says the LORD, ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;
Und aus dem Stamm Levi werden immer Priester kommen, die mir dienen und regelmäßig Brandopfer, Speiseopfer und andere Opfergaben darbringen.«
and the Levitical priests shall never lack a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings and to prepare sacrifices continually.’”
Wieder empfing Jeremia eine Botschaft vom HERRN:
The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,
»So spricht der HERR: Ich habe mit dem Tag und der Nacht einen Bund geschlossen, dass sie zur rechten Zeit aufeinander folgen; niemand kann diese Ordnung umstoßen.
“Thus says the LORD, ‘If you can break My covenant for the day and My covenant for the night, so that day and night will not be at their appointed time,
Auch mit meinem Diener David habe ich einen Bund geschlossen, dass immer einer seiner Nachkommen als König regieren wird, ebenso mit den Priestern aus dem Stamm Levi, dass sie mir immer dienen werden. Diese Bündnisse kann niemand aufheben.
then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant so that he will not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers.
Ich lasse die Nachkommen von David und die Nachkommen der Leviten so zahlreich werden wie die Sterne am Himmel und so unermesslich wie den Sand am Meer.«
‘As the host of heaven cannot be counted and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.’”
»Hast du gehört, was die Leute sagen? ›Der HERR hat Israel und Juda als sein Volk erwählt, aber jetzt hat er es verstoßen!‹ Mit Verachtung schauen sie auf die Israeliten herab, als wären sie gar kein Volk mehr.
“Have you not observed what this people have spoken, saying, ‘The two families which the LORD chose, He has rejected them’? Thus they despise My people, no longer are they as a nation in their sight.
Doch ich, der HERR, sage: Meinen Bund mit dem Tag und der Nacht werde ich niemals brechen, und die Ordnungen von Himmel und Erde lasse ich für alle Zeiten gelten.
“Thus says the LORD, ‘If My covenant for day and night stand not, and the fixed patterns of heaven and earth I have not established,
Genauso sicher könnt ihr sein, dass ich die Nachkommen von Jakob und David nie verstoßen werde; immer wird einer von ihnen König sein über das Volk Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs. Dann will ich ihr Schicksal wieder zum Guten wenden und Erbarmen mit ihnen haben.«
then I would reject the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, not taking from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them.’”
