Im 9. Jahr unserer Verbannung, am 10. Tag des 10. Monats, empfing ich eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Er sagte zu mir:
The Parable of the Cooking Pot
Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
»Du Mensch, schreib dir das Datum des heutigen Tages auf, denn gerade heute beginnt der König von Babylonien mit der Belagerung Jerusalems!
Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.
Und nun erzähl den Israeliten ein Gleichnis! Sag diesem widerspenstigen Volk: So spricht Gott, der HERR: Stell einen Topf auf die Kochstelle und gieß reichlich Wasser hinein!
And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
Füll ihn mit dem besten Fleisch, mit Stücken von Lende und Schulter, und gib auch Knochen voller Mark dazu!
Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
Nimm nur die besten deiner Schafe, schichte Holz unter dem Topf auf und lass das Fleisch tüchtig sieden, zusammen mit all den Knochen!
Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
Denn ich, Gott, der HERR, sage: Wehe dir, du Stadt voller Bluttaten! Du bist ein Topf mit Rost, der nicht mehr abgeht! Wahllos wird das Fleisch aus dir herausgefischt, Stück für Stück, nichts bleibt zurück.
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
Zum Himmel schreit das Blut, das deine Einwohner vergossen haben. Die nackten Felsen sind damit besudelt, und man deckt noch nicht einmal Erde darüber.
For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
Ich selbst habe dafür gesorgt, dass es so ist. Ja, das Blut soll nicht zugedeckt werden, damit sich mein Zorn daran entzündet und ich Rache nehme!
That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
Denn ich, Gott, der HERR, sage: Wehe dir, du Stadt voller Bluttaten! Auch ich schichte einen Holzstoß unter dir auf.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
Ja, bringt große Mengen Holz herbei! Zündet das Feuer an, kocht das Fleisch, bis die Brühe verdampft ist und die Knochen verkohlen!
Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.
Stellt den leeren Topf auf das Feuer, damit das Metall glühend heiß wird, ja, damit der ganze Rost wegschmilzt, der ihn beschmutzt!
Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.
Vergebliche Mühe! Selbst im Feuer geht der Rost nicht ab!
She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.
Jerusalem, durch dein schamloses Treiben hast du dich unrein gemacht, und selbst als ich dich reinigen wollte, bliebst du lieber, wie du warst. Darum wirst du nicht eher wieder rein werden, bis ich meinen Zorn an dir gestillt habe!
In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.
Das sage ich, Gott, der HERR, und ich werde es auch tun. Ja, es kommt ganz bestimmt! Ich sehe nicht länger tatenlos zu. Keine Träne werde ich um dich vergießen, kein Mitleid mit dir haben. Ich ziehe dich zur Rechenschaft für das, was du getan hast. Mein Wort gilt!«
I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Wieder empfing ich eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Er sprach zu mir:
Ezekiel's Wife Dies
Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
»Du Mensch, durch einen plötzlichen Tod werde ich dir jemanden nehmen, der dir lieb und teuer ist. Doch du sollst nicht in lautes Klagen ausbrechen und nicht weinen. Keine Träne sollst du vergießen!
Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
Nur heimlich darfst du stöhnen, aber keine Totenklage halten! Lass dir deine Trauer nicht anmerken: Reiß dir nicht den Turban vom Kopf, und zieh auch deine Schuhe nicht aus! Verhüll nicht dein Gesicht, und nimm keine Trauermahlzeit ein!«
Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.
Noch am selben Abend starb meine Frau, und am nächsten Morgen verhielt ich mich so, wie Gott es mir befohlen hatte.
So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
Da fragten mich die Leute: »Was hat dein seltsames Verhalten zu bedeuten? Willst du es uns nicht erklären?«
And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?
Ich antwortete: »Der HERR hat mir befohlen,
Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
euch Israeliten diese Botschaft weiterzugeben: So spricht Gott, der HERR: Ich weiß, dass der Tempel euch lieb und teuer ist. Ihr seid stolz auf den Schutz, den er euch bietet, und ihr sehnt euch nach ihm zurück. Doch ich werde dafür sorgen, dass mein Heiligtum entweiht und zerstört wird. Eure Söhne und Töchter, die ihr in Jerusalem zurückgelassen habt, fallen durchs Schwert.
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
Dann werdet ihr euch genauso verhalten wie Hesekiel. Euer Gesicht werdet ihr nicht verhüllen und keine Trauermahlzeit zu euch nehmen.
And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
Eure Turbane und Schuhe werdet ihr anbehalten. Kein lautes Klagen und Weinen wird man von euch hören. Vor Trauer über eure Sünden geht ihr zugrunde, ihr könnt nur noch seufzen und stöhnen.
And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.
Hesekiel ist ein Mahnzeichen für euch, es wird euch genauso ergehen wie ihm. Wenn es so weit ist, dann werdet ihr erkennen, dass ich Gott, der HERR, bin.«
Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
Weiter sprach Gott zu mir: »Du Mensch, lass es dir gesagt sein: Ich werde den Israeliten ihren Tempel entreißen, ihren Zufluchtsort, der ihnen so lieb und teuer ist. Ja, sie freuen sich über ihn und sehnen sich nach ihm zurück. Doch ich werde ihn zerstören, und auch ihre Söhne und Töchter lasse ich umkommen.
Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,
An jenem Tag wird ein Überlebender aus Jerusalem zu dir kommen und dir davon berichten.
That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?
Wenn er bei dir eintrifft, wirst du wieder reden können. Du wirst mit ihm sprechen und nicht länger stumm sein. So wirst du zu einem Mahnzeichen für die Israeliten, damit sie erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.«
In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
