Dann führte mich der Mann noch einmal zum Eingang des Tempelgebäudes, der nach Osten lag. Dort entdeckte ich, dass Wasser unter der Schwelle hervorquoll. Erst floss es ein Stück an der Vorderseite des Tempels entlang, dann südlich am Altar vorbei und weiter nach Osten.

Ich sah, dass auf beiden Seiten des Flusses sehr viele Bäume standen.
Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other.
Der Mann sagte zu mir: »Dieser Fluss fließt weiter nach Osten in das Gebiet oberhalb der Jordan-Ebene, dann durchquert er die Ebene und mündet schließlich ins Tote Meer. Dort verwandelt er das Salzwasser in gesundes Süßwasser.
Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.
Überall wohin der Fluss kommt, da schenkt er Leben. Ja, durch ihn wird das Wasser des Toten Meeres gesund, so dass es darin von Tieren wimmelt.
And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.
Am Ufer des Meeres leben dann Fischer, von En-Gedi bis En-Eglajim breiten sie ihre Netze zum Trocknen aus. Fische aller Art wird es wieder dort geben, so zahlreich wie im Mittelmeer.
And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.
Nur in den Sümpfen und Teichen rund um das Tote Meer wird kein Süßwasser sein. Aus ihnen soll man auch in Zukunft Salz gewinnen können.
But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.
An beiden Ufern des Flusses wachsen alle Arten von Obstbäumen. Ihre Blätter verwelken nie, und sie tragen immerfort reiche Frucht. Denn der Fluss, der ihren Wurzeln Wasser gibt, kommt aus dem Heiligtum. Monat für Monat bringen sie neue, wohlschmeckende Früchte hervor, und ihre Blätter dienen den Menschen als Heilmittel.«
And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
Dann sprach Gott, der HERR, zu mir: »Ich will dir die Grenzen des Landes beschreiben, das ihr unter die zwölf Stämme Israels aufteilen sollt. Dabei stehen den Nachkommen von Josef zwei Gebiete zu.
The Borders of the Land
Thus saith the Lord GOD; This shall be the border, whereby ye shall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph shall have two portions.

Euren Vorfahren habe ich geschworen, ihnen dieses Land zu schenken. Darum sollt ihr es für immer behalten und an eure Nachkommen weitervererben. Teilt es so unter euch auf, dass jeder Stamm sein eigenes Gebiet erhält!
And ye shall inherit it, one as well as another: concerning the which I lifted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land shall fall unto you for inheritance.
Die Nordgrenze des Landes verläuft vom Mittelmeer ostwärts in Richtung der Städte Hetlon, Lebo-Hamat und Zedad,
And this shall be the border of the land toward the north side, from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, as men go to Zedad;
dann weiter nach Berota und Sibrajim, das an der Grenze zwischen dem Herrschaftsbereich von Damaskus und dem von Hamat liegt. Dann führt sie zur Stadt Hazar-Enan am Rand des Haurangebirges.
Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazarhatticon, which is by the coast of Hauran.
Nördlich dieser Linie vom Mittelmeer bis nach Hazar-Enan liegt der Herrschaftsbereich von Damaskus und von Hamat.
And the border from the sea shall be Hazarenan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side.
Die Ostgrenze beginnt dort, wo das Gebiet von Damaskus an das Haurangebirge grenzt. Von dort an bildet der Jordan die Grenze zwischen dem Land Israel im Westen und der Landschaft Gilead im Osten, bis hinunter zur Stadt Tamar am Toten Meer.
And the east side ye shall measure from Hauran, and from Damascus, and from Gilead, and from the land of Israel by Jordan, from the border unto the east sea. And this is the east side.
Die Südgrenze verläuft von Tamar bis zu der Quelle Meriba bei Kadesch und von dort weiter zu dem Bach, der die Grenze nach Ägypten bildet und ins Mittelmeer mündet.
And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward.
Die Westgrenze bildet das Mittelmeer bis hinauf nach Lebo-Hamat.
The west side also shall be the great sea from the border, till a man come over against Hamath. This is the west side.
Teilt dieses Land unter die Stämme Israels auf.
So shall ye divide this land unto you according to the tribes of Israel.
Ihr sollt es für immer besitzen und an eure Nachkommen weitervererben. Jede Familie bekommt ihren Anteil durch das Los zugewiesen; dabei sollen die Fremden, die unter euch leben und ihre Kinder bei euch großziehen, genauso berücksichtigt werden. Wenn das Land der einzelnen Stämme aufgeteilt wird, dann behandelt die Fremden und ihre Familien wie euresgleichen.
And it shall come to pass, that ye shall divide it by lot for an inheritance unto you, and to the strangers that sojourn among you, which shall beget children among you: and they shall be unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.
