    Als ich wieder aufblickte, sah ich eine Schriftrolle durch die Luft fliegen.

    A Vision of a Flying Scroll

    Again I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a flying scroll!

    Der Engel fragte mich: »Was siehst du?« Ich antwortete: »Eine ausgebreitete Schriftrolle, die durch die Luft fliegt; sie ist zehn Meter lang und fünf Meter breit!«

    And he said to me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying scroll. Its length is twenty cubits, and its width ten cubits.”a

    Da sagte er zu mir: »Auf dieser Rolle steht ein Fluch, der über das ganze Land hinausgehen wird. Bisher sind alle ungestraft geblieben, die gestohlen oder Meineide geschworen haben. Doch das hat jetzt ein Ende!

    Then he said to me, “This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. For everyone who steals shall be cleaned out according to what is on one side, and everyone who swears falselyb shall be cleaned out according to what is on the other side.

    Der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, kündigt euch an: ›Ich schicke diesen Fluch in die Häuser der Diebe und zu allen, die bei meinem Namen falsch schwören. Er lastet auf ihren Häusern, er zerfrisst die Balken und Steine, bis alles in sich zusammenfällt.‹«

    I will send it out, declares the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears falsely by my name. And it shall remain in his house and consume it, both timber and stones.”

    Der Engel, der mir alles erklärte, trat zu mir und forderte mich auf: »Schau hin! Sieh, was dort erscheint!«

    A Vision of a Woman in a Basket

    Then the angel who talked with me came forward and said to me, “Lift your eyes and see what this is that is going out.”

    »Was ist das?«, fragte ich. Er antwortete: »Ein Fass. Es enthält die Schuld, die die Menschen im ganzen Land auf sich geladen haben.«

    And I said, “What is it?” He said, “This is the basketc that is going out.” And he said, “This is their iniquityd in all the land.”

    Plötzlich hob sich der runde Bleideckel, und eine Frau kam zum Vorschein.

    And behold, the leaden cover was lifted, and there was a woman sitting in the basket!

    Der Engel sagte: »Das ist die Gottlosigkeit!« Er drängte die Frau wieder in das Fass zurück und schlug den Bleideckel zu.

    And he said, “This is Wickedness.” And he thrust her back into the basket, and thrust down the leaden weight on its opening.

    Als ich nach oben schaute, sah ich zwei Frauen mit Flügeln, wie Störche sie haben; der Wind trug sie her. Sie ergriffen das Fass und flogen mit ihm davon.

    Then I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, two women coming forward! The wind was in their wings. They had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven.

    Ich fragte den Engel: »Wohin bringen sie das Fass?«

    Then I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are they taking the basket?”

    Er antwortete: »Ins Land Schinar. Dort baut man der Frau einen Tempel; und wenn er fertig ist, stellt man das Fass darin auf einem Podest auf.«

    He said to me, “To the land of Shinar, to build a house for it. And when this is prepared, they will set the basket down there on its base.”
