Und das sind die Geschlechter Jakobs: Joseph war 17 Jahre alt, da er ein Hirte des Viehs ward mit seinen Brüdern; und der Knabe war bei den Kindern Bilhas und Silpas, der Weiber seines Vaters, und brachte vor ihren Vater, wo ein böses Geschrei wider sie war.

Und so geht seine Geschichte weiter: Jakobs Sohn Josef war inzwischen 17 Jahre alt. Seine Aufgabe war es, die Schaf- und Ziegenherden seines Vaters zu hüten, zusammen mit seinen Halbbrüdern, den Söhnen von Bilha und Silpa. Zu Hause verriet er seinem Vater, was die Brüder Schlechtes taten.

Das ist die Geschlechterfolge Jakobs: Als Josef siebzehn Jahre zählte, weidete er mit seinen Brüdern die Schafe und Ziegen. Er war Hirtenjunge bei den Söhnen Bilhas und Silpas, den Frauen seines Vaters. Josef hinterbrachte ihrem Vater ihre üble Nachrede.
