Und da sie ihnen nachzogen bis an den Jordan, siehe, da lag der Weg voll Kleider und Geräte, welche die Syrer von sich geworfen hatten, da sie eilten. Und da die Boten wiederkamen und sagten es dem König an,

Die Kundschafter machten sich auf und folgten dem Weg, den das Heer genommen haben musste. Sie sahen überall Kleider und Waffen herumliegen, die die Syrer weggeworfen hatten, um schneller fliehen zu können. Beim Jordan kehrten sie um, eilten nach Samaria zurück und berichteten dem König, was sie gesehen hatten.

Sie fuhren hinter ihnen her bis an den Jordan und fanden den ganzen Weg mit Kleidern und Waffen übersät, die die Aramäer auf ihrer überstürzten Flucht weggeworfen hatten. Als sie zurückkamen und dem König Meldung erstatteten,
