Also wurden die Kinder Israel gedemütigt zu der Zeit; aber die Kinder Juda wurden getrost, denn sie verließen sich auf den HERRN, ihrer Väter Gott.

Die Judäer siegten, weil sie ihre Hilfe vom HERRN, dem Gott ihrer Vorfahren, erwartet hatten. Für die Israeliten aber war es eine große Demütigung.

So wurden die Israeliten damals gedemütigt, die Judäer aber gewannen die Oberhand; denn sie stützten sich auf den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Väter.
