Da nun der Brief des Königs Arthahsastha gelesen ward vor Rehum und Simsai, dem Schreiber, und ihrem Rat, zogen sie eilend hinauf gen Jerusalem zu den Juden und wehrten ihnen mit Arm und Gewalt.

Eine Abschrift des Briefes wurde Rehum, Schimschai und den übrigen führenden Männern vorgelesen. Sofort brachen sie nach Jerusalem auf und hinderten die Juden mit Waffengewalt am Weiterbau.

Sobald das Schreiben des Königs Artaxerxes vor Rehum und dem Schreiber Schimschai sowie ihren Amtsgenossen verlesen worden war, gingen diese eilends nach Jerusalem zu den Juden und hinderten sie mit Waffengewalt an ihrer Arbeit.
