Und es wird aus sein mit der Feste Ephraims; und das Königreich zu Damaskus und das übrige in Syrien wird sein wie die Herrlichkeit der Kinder Israel, spricht der HERR Zebaoth.

Auch das Nordreich Israel wird seine starken Befestigungen verlieren, und das Königreich von Damaskus wird verschwinden. Die überlebenden Syrer trifft das gleiche Schicksal wie die Israeliten: Von ihrem früheren Glanz bleibt nicht viel. Darauf gebe ich, der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, mein Wort.

Mit dem Bollwerk von Efraim ist es zu Ende, mit dem Königreich von Damaskus. Dem Rest Arams wird es gehen wie der Herrlichkeit der Söhne Israels — Spruch des HERRN der Heerscharen.
