So sprecht ihr: Warum soll denn ein Sohn nicht tragen seines Vaters Missetat? Darum daß er recht und wohl getan und alle meine Rechte gehalten und getan hat, soll er leben.

Ihr aber fragt: ›Warum soll nicht auch der Sohn für die Schuld seines Vaters bestraft werden?‹, und ich antworte euch: Weil er für Recht und Gerechtigkeit eingetreten ist! Er hat auf alle meine Gebote geachtet und sie befolgt, darum wird er am Leben bleiben.

Ihr aber sagt: Warum trägt der Sohn nicht mit an der Schuld des Vaters? Der Sohn hat nach Recht und Gerechtigkeit gehandelt. Er hat alle meine Satzungen bewahrt und sie befolgt. Er wird bestimmt am Leben bleiben.
