Er antwortete und sprach: Sehe ich doch vier Männer frei im Feuer gehen, und sie sind unversehrt; und der vierte ist gleich, als wäre er ein Sohn der Götter.

»Warum sehe ich dann aber vier Männer ohne Fesseln im Feuer umhergehen?«, rief der König. »Sie sind unversehrt, und der vierte sieht aus wie ein Sohn der Götter!«

Asarja blieb stehen, öffnete den Mund und sprach mitten im Feuer folgendes Gebet:
