Und sie konnten sein Wort nicht tadeln vor dem Volk und verwunderten sich seiner Antwort und schwiegen still.

So war es ihnen nicht gelungen, Jesus vor allen Leuten zu einer verfänglichen Aussage zu verleiten. Sie waren von seiner Antwort so überrascht, dass sie schwiegen.
