Ihre Nachbarinnen gaben ihm den Namen Obed (»Diener«) und erzählten überall: »Noomi hat einen Sohn bekommen!« Obed wurde der Vater von Isai, und dessen Sohn war König David.

Die Nachbarinnen rühmten ihn und sagten: Der Noomi ist ein Sohn geboren. Und sie gaben ihm den Namen Obed. Er ist der Vater Isais, des Vaters Davids.
