Und er stand und rief zu dem Heer Israels und sprach zu ihnen: Was seid ihr ausgezogen, euch zu rüsten in einen Streit? Bin ich nicht ein Philister und ihr Sauls Knechte? Erwählet einen unter euch, der zu mir herabkomme.

Goliat stellte sich den israelitischen Schlachtreihen gegenüber auf und brüllte: »Was wollt ihr hier eigentlich mit eurem ganzen Heer? Ich bin ein Philister, und ihr seid nur Knechte Sauls. Los, wählt euren besten Mann aus und schickt ihn herunter zu mir!

Goliat trat vor und rief zu den Reihen der Israeliten hinüber: Warum seid ihr ausgezogen und habt euch zum Kampf aufgestellt? Bin ich nicht ein Philister und seid ihr nicht die Knechte Sauls? Wählt euch doch einen Mann aus! Er soll zu mir herunterkommen.
