The LORD spoke through Jeremiah when King Zedekiah sent Pashhur son of Malkijah and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, the priest, to speak with him. They begged Jeremiah,

The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying, -

König Zedekia sandte Paschhur, den Sohn von Malkija, und den Priester Zefanja, den Sohn von Maaseja, zu Jeremia. Sie sollten ihm mitteilen: »Nebukadnezar, der König von Babylonien, führt Krieg gegen uns. Befrage doch den HERRN und bitte ihn, ob er nicht ein Wunder für uns tut wie schon so oft und Nebukadnezar zum Abzug zwingt!« Da empfing Jeremia eine Botschaft vom HERRN.
