Dies ist das Wort, das zu Jeremia geschah vom HERRN, und sprach:
“Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Höret die Worte dieses Bundes, daß ihr sie denen in Juda und den Bürgern zu Jerusalem saget.
You shall say to them, Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Cursed be the man who does not hear the words of this covenant
Und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Verflucht sei, wer nicht gehorcht den Worten dieses Bundes,
that I commanded your fathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Listen to my voice, and do all that I command you. So shall you be my people, and I will be your God,
den ich euren Vätern gebot des Tages, da ich sie aus Ägyptenland führte, aus dem eisernen Ofen, und sprach: Gehorchet meiner Stimme und tut, wie ich euch geboten habe, so sollt ihr mein Volk sein, und ich will euer Gott sein,
that I may confirm the oath that I swore to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day.” Then I answered, “So be it, Lord.”
auf daß ich den Eid halten möge, den ich euren Vätern geschworen habe, ihnen zu geben ein Land, darin Milch und Honig fließt, wie es denn heutigestages steht. Ich antwortete und sprach: HERR, ja, es sei also!
And the Lord said to me, “Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem: Hear the words of this covenant and do them.
Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Predige alle diese Worte in den Städten Juda’s und auf allen Gassen zu Jerusalem und sprich: Höret die Worte dieses Bundes und tut darnach!
For I solemnly warned your fathers when I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, warning them persistently, even to this day, saying, Obey my voice.
Denn ich habe euren Vätern gezeugt von dem Tage an, da ich sie aus Ägyptenland führte, bis auf den heutigen Tag und zeugte stets und sprach: Gehorchet meiner Stimme!
Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but everyone walked in the stubbornness of his evil heart. Therefore I brought upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did not.”
Aber sie gehorchten nicht, neigten auch ihre Ohren nicht; sondern ein jeglicher ging nach seines bösen Herzens Gedünken. Darum habe ich auch über sie kommen lassen alle Worte dieses Bundes, den ich geboten habe zu tun, und nach dem sie doch nicht getan haben.
Again the Lord said to me, “A conspiracy exists among the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Ich weiß wohl, wie sie in Juda und zu Jerusalem sich rotten.
They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words. They have gone after other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant that I made with their fathers.
Sie kehren sich eben zu den Sünden ihrer Väter, die vormals waren, welche auch nicht gehorchen wollten meinen Worten und folgten auch andern Göttern nach und dienten ihnen. Also hat das Haus Israel und das Haus Juda meinen Bund gebrochen, den ich mit ihren Vätern gemacht habe.
Therefore, thus says the Lord, Behold, I am bringing disaster upon them that they cannot escape. Though they cry to me, I will not listen to them.
Darum siehe, spricht der HERR, ich will ein Unglück über sie gehen lassen, dem sie nicht sollen entgehen können; und wenn sie zu mir schreien, will ich sie nicht hören.
Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to whom they make offerings, but they cannot save them in the time of their trouble.
So laß denn die Städte Juda’s und die Bürger zu Jerusalem hingehen und zu den Göttern schreien, denen sie geräuchert haben; aber sie werden ihnen nicht helfen in ihrer Not.
For your gods have become as many as your cities, O Judah, and as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to shame, altars to make offerings to Baal.
Denn so manche Stadt, so manche Götter hast du, Juda; und so manche Gassen zu Jerusalem sind, so manchen Schandaltar habt ihr aufgerichtet, dem Baal zu räuchern.
“Therefore do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer on their behalf, for I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their trouble.
So bitte du nun nicht für dieses Volk und tue kein Flehen noch Gebet für sie; denn ich will sie nicht hören, wenn sie zu mir schreien in ihrer Not.
What right has my beloved in my house, when she has done many vile deeds? Can even sacrificial flesh avert your doom? Can you then exult?
Was haben meine Freunde in meinem Haus zu schaffen? Sie treiben alle Schalkheit und meinen, das heilige Fleisch soll es von ihnen nehmen; und wenn sie übeltun, sind sie guter Dinge darüber.
The Lord once called you ‘a green olive tree, beautiful with good fruit.’ But with the roar of a great tempest he will set fire to it, and its branches will be consumed.
Der HERR nannte dich einen grünen, schönen, fruchtbaren Ölbaum; aber nun hat er mit einem großen Mordgeschrei ein Feuer um ihn lassen anzünden, daß seine Äste verderben müssen.
The Lord of hosts, who planted you, has decreed disaster against you, because of the evil that the house of Israel and the house of Judah have done, provoking me to anger by making offerings to Baal.”
Denn der HERR Zebaoth, der dich gepflanzt hat, hat dir ein Unglück gedroht um der Bosheit willen des Hauses Israel und des Hauses Juda, welche sie treiben, daß sie mich erzürnen mit ihrem Räuchern, das sie dem Baal tun.
The Lord made it known to me and I knew;
then you showed me their deeds.

Der HERR hat mir’s offenbart, daß ich’s weiß, und zeigte mir ihr Vornehmen,

nämlich, daß sie mich wie ein armes Schaf zur Schlachtbank führen wollen. Denn ich wußte nicht, daß sie wider mich beratschlagt hatten und gesagt: Laßt uns den Baum mit seinen Früchten verderben und ihn aus dem Lande der Lebendigen ausrotten, daß seines Namens nimmermehr gedacht werde.

let me see your vengeance upon them,
for to you have I committed my cause.

Aber du, HERR Zebaoth, du gerechter Richter, der du Nieren und Herzen prüfst, laß mich deine Rache über sie sehen; denn ich habe dir meine Sache befohlen.
Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, and say, “Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord, or you will die by our hand” —
Darum spricht der HERR also wider die Männer zu Anathoth, die dir nach deinem Leben stehen und sprechen: Weissage uns nicht im Namen des HERRN, willst du anders nicht von unsern Händen sterben!
therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: “Behold, I will punish them. The young men shall die by the sword, their sons and their daughters shall die by famine,
darum spricht der HERR Zebaoth also: Siehe, ich will sie heimsuchen; ihre junge Mannschaft soll mit dem Schwert getötet werden, und ihre Söhne und Töchter sollen Hungers sterben, daß nichts von ihnen übrigbleibe;
