»So spricht der HERR: Wenn ein Mann sich von seiner Frau scheiden lässt und sie einen anderen heiratet, darf er sie dann später wieder zur Frau nehmen? Würde dadurch nicht das ganze Land entweiht? Du aber, Volk Israel, hast dich mit vielen Liebhabern eingelassen — und jetzt willst du zu mir zurückkommen?

Sieh dich doch um! Kannst du mir einen Hügel nennen, auf dem du nicht Ehebruch begangen und andere Götter angebetet hast? Wie die Araber in der Wüste im Hinterhalt auf Beute lauern, so hast du ständig Ausschau nach deinen Liebhabern gehalten. Mit deiner Hurerei und Bosheit hast du das ganze Land entweiht.

Darum sind auch die Herbst- und Frühjahrsregen ausgeblieben. Doch du bist eine richtige Hure: Du kennst keine Scham!

Du wirst doch nicht für immer zornig auf mich sein! Willst du mir nie mehr vergeben?‹ Jawohl, so redest du, und dabei treibst du es immer schlimmer und setzt deinen Kopf durch.«
Faithless Israel Called to Repentance
The Lord said to me in the days of King Josiah: “Have you seen what she did, that faithless one, Israel, how she went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and there played the whore?

And I thought, ‘After she has done all this she will return to me,’ but she did not return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
Ich dachte: ›Bestimmt kehrt sie wieder zu mir zurück, wenn sie genug davon hat.‹ Aber sie kam nicht! Juda, Israels Schwester, die ebenso treulos ist wie sie, sah zu.
She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, I had sent her away with a decree of divorce. Yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went and played the whore.
Sie sah auch, wie ich Israel die Scheidungsurkunde gab und sie wegjagte, weil sie die Ehe gebrochen hatte. Doch Juda ließ sich davon nicht abschrecken: Auch sie wurde mir untreu und fing an, Hurerei zu treiben.
Because she took her whoredom lightly, she polluted the land, committing adultery with stone and tree.
Leichtfertig hat sie Götzen aus Holz und Stein verehrt und den Bund mit mir gebrochen. So entweihte sie das Land.
Yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to me with her whole heart, but in pretense, declares the Lord.”
Und danach kehrte sie zu mir zurück, aber sie tat es nicht von ganzem Herzen, sondern heuchelte mir bloß etwas vor. Das sage ich, der HERR.«
And the Lord said to me, “Faithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.
Weiter sprach der HERR zu mir: »Israel hat sich zwar von mir losgesagt, aber trotz allem kann sie eher vor mir bestehen als Juda, diese treulose Frau!
Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say,
“‘Return, faithless Israel,
I will not look on you in anger,
for I am merciful,
I will not be angry forever.

Deshalb ruf dem Norden zu: So spricht der HERR: Israel, komm zurück zu mir! Du warst mir untreu, doch ich will nicht länger zornig auf dich sein! Denn ich bin ein barmherziger Gott und werde dir vergeben.
Only acknowledge your guilt,
that you rebelled against the Lord your God
and scattered your favors among foreigners under every green tree,
and that you have not obeyed my voice,

Nur — sieh deine Schuld endlich ein! Gib zu, dass du dich von mir, deinem Gott, losgesagt hast, dass du hinter anderen Göttern hergelaufen bist und ihnen unter jedem dicht belaubten Baum deine Opfer dargebracht hast. Auf mich wolltest du einfach nicht hören.

for I am your master;
I will take you, one from a city and two from a family,
and I will bring you to Zion.

Kehr um, abtrünniges Volk, denn ich bin immer noch dein Herr! Ich werde aus jeder Stadt und aus jeder Sippe einige von euch zum Berg Zion zurückbringen.
“‘And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.
Dann setze ich Führer über euch ein, die euch weise und verständig regieren, so wie es mir gefällt.
And when you have multiplied and been fruitful in the land, in those days, declares the Lord, they shall no more say, “The ark of the covenant of the Lord.” It shall not come to mind or be remembered or missed; it shall not be made again.
Ich verspreche euch: Wenn ihr dann zahlreich geworden seid und euch im Land ausgebreitet habt, dann werdet ihr nicht mehr nach der Bundeslade fragen, sie kommt euch nicht mehr in den Sinn. Ihr werdet sie nicht vermissen und auch keine neue anfertigen.
At that time Jerusalem shall be called the throne of the Lord, and all nations shall gather to it, to the presence of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they shall no more stubbornly follow their own evil heart.
Denn in jener Zeit wird man ganz Jerusalem ›Thron des HERRN‹ nennen, und alle Völker werden sich dort versammeln, um meinen Namen anzubeten. Sie werden nicht länger das tun, wozu ihr böses und eigensinniges Herz sie treibt.
In those days the house of Judah shall join the house of Israel, and together they shall come from the land of the north to the land that I gave your fathers for a heritage.
Dann werden Juda und Israel sich wieder zusammenschließen; gemeinsam kehrt ihr aus dem Norden in das Land zurück, das ich euren Vorfahren für immer geschenkt habe.
“‘I said,

and give you a pleasant land,
a heritage most beautiful of all nations.

and would not turn from following me.

Israel, ich wollte dich zu meinem geliebten Kind machen und dir ein herrliches Land geben, das prächtigste weit und breit. Ich dachte, du würdest mich dann ›Vater‹ nennen und dich nicht mehr von mir abwenden.
Surely, as a treacherous wife leaves her husband,
so have you been treacherous to me, O house of Israel,
so have you been treacherous to me, O house of Israel,
Doch wie eine Frau ihren Mann betrügt, so bist auch du mir untreu geworden. Das sage ich, der HERR.

the weeping and pleading of Israel’s sons

Hört ihr die Schreie auf den kahlen Hügeln? Die Israeliten weinen und flehen um Gnade, weil sie in die Irre gegangen sind und mich vergessen haben, den HERRN, ihren Gott.

Kehrt um zu mir, ihr Kinder, die ihr von mir weggelaufen seid, ich will euch von eurer Untreue heilen!« »Ja, wir kommen zu dir, o HERR«, antworten die Israeliten, »denn nur du bist unser Gott!
Es ist wahr: Die Götter, zu denen wir auf den Hügeln laut geschrien haben, helfen uns nicht. Nur du, HERR, kannst Israel retten!
“But from our youth the shameful thing has devoured all for which our fathers labored, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
Wir haben diesem schrecklichen Gott Baal gedient und seinetwegen alles verloren, was wir seit Generationen mühsam erworben haben: unseren ganzen Besitz, unsere Schafe und Rinder. Ja sogar unsere Söhne und Töchter haben wir ihm geopfert.
Let us lie down in our shame, and let our dishonor cover us. For we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.”
Nun liegen wir am Boden und schämen uns. Welch eine Schande! Wir haben gegen dich, den HERRN, unseren Gott, gesündigt, wir und unsere Vorfahren, von jeher bis heute. Wir haben nicht auf dich gehört, HERR, unser Gott!«
