Israel’s Guilt and Punishment
Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O people of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt:

Ihr Israeliten, hört, was ich, der HERR, euch zu sagen habe! Es gilt eurem ganzen Volk, das ich damals aus Ägypten befreit habe.
“You only have I known
of all the families of the earth;
therefore I will punish you
for all your iniquities.

Unter allen Völkern der Erde seid ihr das einzige, das ich als mein Eigentum erwählt habe. Deshalb ziehe ich euch nun für eure Sünden zur Rechenschaft.«

Gehen etwa zwei Menschen miteinander denselben Weg, ohne sich vorher verabredet zu haben?

Brüllt der Löwe im Dickicht, wenn er kein Tier reißen will? Knurrt ein junger Löwe in seinem Versteck, ohne dass er etwas erbeutet hat?

Wird ein Vogel gefangen, wenn das Netz nicht gespannt wurde? Schnappt eine Falle zu, obwohl kein Tier hineingelaufen ist?

Wenn in einer Stadt Alarm geblasen wird, erschrecken dann nicht ihre Einwohner? Und geschieht etwa ein Unglück in der Stadt, das der HERR nicht geschickt hat?

Gott, der HERR, tut nichts, ohne es vorher seinen Dienern, den Propheten, anzuvertrauen.

Wenn der Löwe brüllt — wer bekommt da keine Angst? Wenn Gott, der HERR, für die Menschen eine Botschaft hat — welcher Prophet kann da schweigen?
Proclaim to the strongholds in Ashdod

and say, “Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria,
and see the great tumults within her,
and the oppressed in her midst.”

»Sagt den Mächtigen in den Palästen von Aschdod und Ägypten: Versammelt euch auf den Bergen rings um Samaria und schaut euch an, wie es in dieser Stadt zugeht! Dort herrschen Unterdrückung und Gewalt.

Die Menschen haben verlernt, das Rechte zu tun. Auch die führenden Männer schrecken vor keinem Verbrechen zurück und füllen ihre Paläste mit geraubten Gütern.
Darum sage ich, Gott, der HERR, zu den Einwohnern von Samaria: Die Feinde werden das Land überfallen und euch von allen Seiten belagern. Sie reißen eure Bollwerke nieder und plündern eure schönen Häuser aus.
Ja, ich versichere euch: Auf Rettung könnt ihr nicht hoffen. Hat ein Hirte etwa sein Schaf gerettet, wenn er gerade noch zwei Schenkelknochen oder einen Zipfel von seinem Ohr aus dem Rachen des Löwen zieht? Genauso wenig wird von euch Israeliten übrig bleiben, die ihr in Samaria auf euren Polstern sitzt und euch auf Betten mit feinen Damastbezügen räkelt!

Ich, der HERR über alles, der allmächtige Gott, sage zu den anderen Völkern: Hört her und tretet als Zeugen gegen die Nachkommen von Jakob auf!

and fall to the ground.

An dem Tag, an dem ich die Israeliten für ihre Vergehen zur Rechenschaft ziehe, zerstöre ich auch die Altäre im Heiligtum von Bethel. Ihre Hörner werden abgeschlagen und fallen zu Boden.
Die herrlichen Sommer- und Winterhäuser verwandle ich in Trümmerhaufen; die elfenbeinverzierten Paläste reiße ich nieder, ja, alle Häuser lasse ich vom Erdboden verschwinden! Mein Wort gilt!«
