    A Vision of a Flying Scroll

    Again I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a flying scroll!

    Wieder erhob ich meine Augen und sah: Und siehe, eine fliegende Schriftrolle.

    And he said to me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying scroll. Its length is twenty cubits, and its width ten cubits.”a

    Er fragte mich: Was siehst du? Ich antwortete: Ich sehe eine fliegende Schriftrolle, zwanzig Ellen lang und zehn Ellen breit.

    Then he said to me, “This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. For everyone who steals shall be cleaned out according to what is on one side, and everyone who swears falselyb shall be cleaned out according to what is on the other side.

    Da sagte er zu mir: Das ist der Fluch, der über die ganze Erde ausgeht. Denn jeder, der stiehlt, wie lange schon bleibt er ungestraft; und jeder, der schwört, wie lange schon bleibt er ungestraft!

    I will send it out, declares the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears falsely by my name. And it shall remain in his house and consume it, both timber and stones.”

    Ich habe ihn ausgehen lassen — Spruch des HERRN der Heerscharen — und er wird eindringen in das Haus des Diebes und in das Haus dessen, der bei meinem Namen falsch schwört. Und der Fluch wird im Innern seines Hauses bleiben und wird es vernichten samt Holz und Steinen.

    A Vision of a Woman in a Basket

    Then the angel who talked with me came forward and said to me, “Lift your eyes and see what this is that is going out.”

    Der Engel, der mit mir redete, kam hervor und sagte zu mir: Erhebe deine Augen und sieh, was da hervorkommt!

    And I said, “What is it?” He said, “This is the basketc that is going out.” And he said, “This is their iniquityd in all the land.”

    Ich fragte: Was ist das? Er antwortete: Was da hervorkommt, ist ein Fass. Und er fuhr fort: Das ist ihre Schuld auf der ganzen Erde.

    And behold, the leaden cover was lifted, and there was a woman sitting in the basket!

    Und siehe: Der Deckel aus Blei hob sich und da saß eine Frau mitten im Fass.

    And he said, “This is Wickedness.” And he thrust her back into the basket, and thrust down the leaden weight on its opening.

    Er sagte: Das ist die Ruchlosigkeit. Darauf stieß er sie in das Fass zurück und warf die Bleiplatte auf dessen Öffnung.

    Then I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, two women coming forward! The wind was in their wings. They had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven.

    Als ich meine Augen erhob und hinsah, siehe, da traten zwei Frauen hervor und ein Wind füllte ihre Flügel — sie hatten nämlich Flügel wie Storchenflügel — und sie trugen das Fass zwischen Erde und Himmel fort.

    Then I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are they taking the basket?”

    Darauf fragte ich den Engel, der mit mir redete: Wohin bringen sie das Fass?

    He said to me, “To the land of Shinar, to build a house for it. And when this is prepared, they will set the basket down there on its base.”

    Er antwortete mir: Ihm soll im Land Schinar ein Tempel gebaut werden. Ist er errichtet, wird es dort an seinem Platz aufgestellt werden.
