Remember the Lord Your God

“The whole commandment that I command you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land that the Lord swore to give to your fathers.

Пильнуйте, щоб виконувати всі заповіді, які я сьогодні вам заповідаю, — щоб ви жили і стали численні, та щоб увійшли й заволоділи землею, про яку Господь поклявся вашим батькам.

And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.

Пам’ятай весь той шлях, яким Господь, твій Бог, водив тебе в пустелі, щоб вимучити тебе, випробувати тебе і виявити, що у твоєму серці: чи ти будеш дотримуватися Його заповідей, чи ні.

And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every worda that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

Він вимучував тебе, морив тебе голодом і годував тебе манною, якої не знали твої батьки, — щоб навчити тебе, що не самим хлібом житиме людина, але кожним словом, що виходить з Божих уст, житиме людина.

Your clothing did not wear out on you and your foot did not swell these forty years.

Твій одяг на тобі не зношувався, і твої ноги не обмозолювалися ось уже сорок років.

Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.

Усвідом своїм серцем, що, як будь-яка людина виховувала б свого сина, так Господь, твій Бог, виховує тебе.

So you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him.

І дотримуйся заповідей Господа, свого Бога, щоб ходити Його дорогами і боятися Його.

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing out in the valleys and hills,

Бо Господь, твій Бог, вводить тебе в добру та простору землю, де водні потоки, джерела безодень, б’ють по рівнинах та по горах.

8

a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey,

Це земля пшениці та ячменю, де виноградники, смоківниці, гранати; земля оливкової олії та меду;

9

a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper.

земля, на якій ти їстимеш свій хліб не в нужді, на якій ти ні в чому не матимеш недостатку; земля, каміння якої — залізо, і з гір якої ти видобуватимеш мідь.

And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.

Ти будеш їсти і насичуватися — і благословлятимеш Господа, свого Бога, на тій добрій землі, яку Він тобі дав.

11

“Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today,

Стережися, щоб ти не забув Господа, свого Бога, щоб не дотримуватися Його заповідей, Його присудів та постанов, які я тобі сьогодні заповідаю.

12

lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them,

12

Щоб, поївши й наситившись, збудувавши гарні будинки й поселившись у них,

13

and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied,

коли намножиться твоя велика та дрібна худоба, коли примножиться в тебе срібло та золото, і коли примножиться все, що в тебе буде, —

14

then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery,

14

ти не загордів серцем і не забув Господа, свого Бога, Який вивів тебе з Єгипетської землі, з дому неволі;

15

who led you through the great and terrifying wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water, who brought you water out of the flinty rock,

15

Який провів тебе через ту велику і страшну пустелю, де змія, яка жалить, скорпіон і спрага, де не було води; Який вивів для тебе джерело води з твердої скелі;

16

who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end.

16

Який годував тебе в пустелі манною, якої не знали твої батьки, щоб вимучити тебе і випробувати тебе, — щоб наостанку вчинити тобі добро.

17

Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’

17

Щоб ти не сказав у своєму серці: Це моя сила і міць моєї руки здобули мені цю велику могутність.

18

You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

18

Пам’ятай про Господа, свого Бога, бо це Він дає тобі силу здобути могутність, — щоб зберегти Свій завіт, про який Він клявся твоїм батькам, як це і є сьогодні.

19

And if you forget the Lord your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish.

19

І буде, — якщо ти таки забудеш [1]про Господа, свого Бога, і підеш слідом за іншими богами, служитимеш їм і поклонятимешся їм, то я свідчу вам сьогодні, що ви неодмінно загинете [2]!

20

Like the nations that the Lord makes to perish before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God.

20

Так само, як і інші народи, які Господь вигублює перед вашим обличчям, загинете і ви через те, що не послухали голосу Господа, свого Бога!
