And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:

David sang dem HERRN an dem Tag, als ihn der HERR aus der Hand all seiner Feinde und aus der Hand Sauls errettet hatte, folgendes Lied:
And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
Er sprach: HERR, du mein Fels und meine Burg und mein Retter,
The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
mein Gott, mein Fels, bei dem ich mich berge, mein Schild und Horn meines Heils, meine Feste, meine Zuflucht, mein Retter, du rettest mich vor Gewalttat.
I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
Ich rufe: Der HERR sei hochgelobt! und ich werde vor meinen Feinden gerettet.
When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;
Denn mich umfingen die Wellen des Todes, die Fluten des Verderbens erschreckten mich.
The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;
Die Fesseln der Unterwelt umstrickten mich, über mich fielen die Schlingen des Todes.
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.
In meiner Not rief ich zum HERRN und rief zu meinem Gott und er hörte aus seinem Tempel meine Stimme, mein Hilfeschrei drang an seine Ohren.
Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.
Da wankte und schwankte die Erde, die Grundfesten des Himmels erbebten. Sie wankten, denn sein Zorn war entbrannt.
There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
Rauch stieg aus seiner Nase auf, aus seinem Mund kam verzehrendes Feuer, glühende Kohlen sprühten von ihm aus.
He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.
Er neigte den Himmel und fuhr herab, zu seinen Füßen dunkle Wolken.
And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.
Er fuhr auf dem Kerub und flog daher; er erschien auf den Flügeln des Windes.
And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.
Er machte Dunkelheit zu seiner Hütte, um sich herum, dunkle Wasser, dichte Wolken.
Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.
Aus dem Glanz vor ihm flammten feurige Kohlen auf.
The LORD thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.
Da ließ der HERR den Donner vom Himmel her erdröhnen, der Höchste ließ seine Stimme erschallen.
And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them.
Da schoss er Pfeile und streute sie, er schleuderte Blitze und jagte sie dahin.
And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.
Da wurden sichtbar die Tiefen des Meeres, die Grundfesten der Erde wurden entblößt durch das Drohen des HERRN, vor dem Schnauben seines zornigen Atems.
He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;
Er griff aus der Höhe herab und fasste mich, zog mich heraus aus gewaltigen Wassern.
He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.
Er entriss mich meinem mächtigen Feind, meinen Hassern, denn sie waren stärker als ich.
They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.
Sie überfielen mich am Tag meines Unheils, doch der HERR wurde mir zur Stütze.
He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
Er führte mich hinaus ins Weite, er befreite mich, denn er hatte an mir Gefallen.
The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
Der HERR handelte gut an mir nach meiner Gerechtigkeit, vergalt mir nach der Reinheit meiner Hände.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
Denn ich hielt mich an die Wege des HERRN und fiel nicht ruchlos ab von meinem Gott.
For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.
Ja, ich habe alle seine Entscheide vor mir, von seinen Satzungen weiche ich nicht ab.
I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity.
Ich war vor ihm ohne Makel, ich nahm mich in Acht vor meiner Sünde.
Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.
Darum hat der HERR mir vergolten, nach meiner Gerechtigkeit, nach der Reinheit meiner Hände vor seinen Augen.
With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright.
Gegen den Treuen zeigst du dich treu, lauter handelst du am Lauteren.
With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury.
Gegen den Reinen zeigst du dich rein, doch falsch gegen den Falschen.
And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.
Das elende Volk rettest du, doch deine Blicke wenden sich gegen die Stolzen, du zwingst sie nieder.
For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.
Ja, du bist meine Leuchte, HERR. Der HERR macht meine Finsternis hell.
For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.
Ja, mit dir überrenne ich Scharen, mit meinem Gott überspringe ich Mauern.
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
Gott, sein Weg ist lauter, das Wort des HERRN ist im Feuer geläutert. Ein Schild ist er für alle, die sich bei ihm bergen.
For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?
Denn wer ist Gott außer dem HERRN, wer ist ein Fels, wenn nicht unser Gott?
God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.
Gott ist meine starke Burg, er gab mir meinen Weg ohne Hindernis frei.
He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places.
Schnell wie die Hirschkühe ließ er mich springen, auf Höhen hat er mich hingestellt.
He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
Er lehrte meine Hände kämpfen, meine Arme, den ehernen Bogen zu spannen.
Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.
Du gabst mir deine Rettung zum Schild, dein Zuspruch machte mich groß.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.
Du schufst weiten Raum meinen Schritten, meine Knöchel wankten nicht.
I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.
Ich verfolge meine Feinde und vertilge sie, ich kehre nicht um, bis sie vernichtet sind.
And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet.
Ich vernichte sie, ich schlage sie nieder; sie stehen nicht mehr auf, sie fallen unter meine Füße.
For thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me.
Du hast mich zum Kampf mit Kraft umgürtet, hast in die Knie gezwungen, die gegen mich aufstehn.
Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.
Den Nacken meiner Feinde gabst du mir preis; ich konnte die vernichten, die mich hassen.
They looked, but there was none to save; even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.
Sie blicken umher, doch da ist kein Retter, sie blicken zum HERRN, doch er gab keine Antwort.
Then did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the street, and did spread them abroad.
Ich zermalme sie wie Staub auf der Erde, wie Unrat auf der Straße zertrete, zermalme ich sie.
Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.
Du rettest mich vor den Anfeindungen meines Volkes, bewahrst mich als Haupt über Nationen. Ein Volk, das ich früher nicht kannte, wird mir dienen.
Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me.
Mir huldigen die Söhne der Fremde; sobald ihr Ohr hört, sind sie mir gehorsam.
Strangers shall fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places.
Den Söhnen der Fremde schwindet die Kraft, sie kommen zitternd aus ihren Burgen hervor.
The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.
Es lebt der HERR, gepriesen sei mein Fels! Der Gott, der Fels meiner Rettung, sei hoch erhoben;
It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me,
denn Gott verschaffte mir Vergeltung und unterwarf mir Völker.
And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
Du entführst mich meinen Feinden, du erhöhst mich über die, die gegen mich aufstehn, du entreißt mich dem Mann der Gewalttaten.
Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.
Darum will ich dir danken, HERR, inmitten der Nationen, ich will deinem Namen singen und spielen.
