Ein Lied von David. Von Gnade und Recht will ich singen; dich, HERR, will ich mit meinem Lied preisen.
I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
Ich möchte aufrichtig und weise regieren — komm und hilf mir doch dabei! An meinem Hof soll nur geschehen, was ich vor dir verantworten kann.
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
Auf gottlose Vorhaben lasse ich mich niemals ein. Ich hasse es, wenn Menschen deine Gebote missachten. Mir selbst soll das niemand nachsagen können!
A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
Ich dulde bei mir keinen Heuchler, mit Bösem will ich nichts zu tun haben.
Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
Wer seinen Mitmenschen heimlich verleumdet, den will ich zum Schweigen bringen. Aus meiner Nähe verbanne ich alle, die hochmütig auf andere herabsehen.
Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
Wer aber glaubwürdig und zuverlässig ist, nach dem halte ich Ausschau. Solche Leute hole ich mir an den Hof, Menschen mit einem guten Ruf nehme ich in meinen Dienst.
He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
Betrüger und Lügner aber haben nichts in meinem Palast zu suchen — sie sollen mir nicht unter die Augen kommen!
