Ein Bittgebet Davids. Höre, HERR, die gerechte Sache, achte auf mein Flehen, vernimm mein Bittgebet von Lippen ohne Falsch!
Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
Von deinem Angesicht ergehe mein Urteil, deine Augen schauen, was recht ist.
Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
Du hast mein Herz geprüft, bei Nacht es heimgesucht, du hast mich erprobt, nichts vermagst du zu finden. Ich habe mich besonnen, dass mein Mund sich nicht vergeht.
Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
Bei allem, was Menschen tun, hielt ich mich an das Wort deiner Lippen. Ich habe mich gehütet vor den Pfaden der Gewalt.
Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
Fest blieben meine Schritte auf deinen Bahnen, meine Füße haben nicht gewankt.
I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
Ich habe zu dir gerufen, denn du, Gott, gibst mir Antwort. Wende dein Ohr mir zu, vernimm meine Rede!
Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
Wunderbar erweise deine Huld! Du rettest, die sich an deiner Rechten vor Empörern bergen.
Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
Behüte mich wie den Augapfel, den Stern des Auges, birg mich im Schatten deiner Flügel
From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
vor den Frevlern, die mich hart bedrängten, vor meinen Feinden, die mich wütend umringen!
They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
Sie haben ihr hartes Herz verschlossen, stolze Worte im Mund geführt.
They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
Auf Schritt und Tritt haben sie mich jetzt umzingelt, ihre Augen richten sich darauf, mich zu Boden zu strecken,
Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
so wie der Löwe voll Gier zu zerreißen, wie der junge Löwe, der im Hinterhalt lauert.
Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:
Steh auf, HERR, tritt dem Frevler entgegen! Wirf ihn zu Boden, entreiß ihm mein Leben mit dem Schwert!
From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
HERR, rette mich mit deiner Hand vor den Leuten, deren Teil am Leben keine Dauer hat! Du füllst ihren Leib mit deinen verborgenen Gütern, auch ihre Söhne werden satt und lassen das, was übrig ist, ihren Kindern.
