O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
Mein Gott, mein Gott, warum hast du mich verlassen? Ich schreie verzweifelt, doch du bist so weit weg, nirgendwo scheint mir Rettung in Sicht zu sein.
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
Mein Gott, Tag und Nacht rufe ich zu dir um Hilfe, aber du antwortest nicht und schenkst mir keine Ruhe.
Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
Du bist doch der heilige Gott! Du bist es, dem das Volk Israel seine Loblieder singt.
They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
Unsere Vorfahren haben sich auf dich verlassen, und du hast ihnen immer wieder geholfen.
But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
Zu dir schrien sie und wurden gerettet. Sie vertrauten dir, und du hast sie nicht enttäuscht.
All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
Und was ist mit mir? Ein Wurm bin ich, kein Mensch mehr — nur noch Hohn und Spott hat man für mich übrig.
He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
Alle Leute machen sich über mich lustig. Wer mich sieht, verzieht sein Gesicht und schüttelt verächtlich den Kopf.
But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
»Überlass Gott deine Not!«, lästern sie, »der soll dir helfen und dich retten! Er liebt dich doch, oder etwa nicht?«
I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.
Du, Herr, hast mich aus dem Leib meiner Mutter gezogen. Schon an ihrer Brust hast du mich Vertrauen gelehrt.
Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
Du bist mein Gott, seitdem mein Leben begann. Seit der Stunde meiner Geburt bin ich auf dich angewiesen.
Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
Bleib mir jetzt doch nicht fern! Groß ist meine Angst! Weit und breit gibt es keinen, der mir hilft.
They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
Viele Feinde kesseln mich ein, umringen mich wie wilde Stiere.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
Sie reißen ihr Maul auf wie brüllende Löwen, die ihre Beute zerfleischen wollen.
My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
Meine Kraft schwindet wie Wasser, das versickert, und alle meine Knochen sind wie ausgerenkt. Mein Herz verkrampft sich vor Angst,
For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
und meine ganze Kraft ist dahin, verdorrt wie eine staubige Tonscherbe. Die Zunge klebt mir am Gaumen. Du lässt mich im Tode versinken.
I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
Eine Meute böswilliger Menschen umkreist mich, gierig wie wildernde Hunde. Hände und Füße haben sie mir durchbohrt.
They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
Ich kann alle meine Knochen zählen. Sie aber starren mich schadenfroh an.
But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
Schon teilen sie meine Kleider unter sich auf und losen um mein Gewand.
Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
HERR, wende dich nicht länger von mir ab! Nur du kannst mir neue Kraft geben, komm mir schnell zu Hilfe!
Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
Rette mich vor dem tödlichen Schwert, bewahre mich vor den Krallen der Hundemeute! Ich habe doch nur dieses eine Leben!
I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
Reiß mich heraus aus dem Rachen der Löwen und beschütze mich vor den Hörnern dieser wilden Stiere! Und tatsächlich, Herr: Du hast mich erhört!
Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
Ich will meinen Brüdern deinen Namen bekannt machen, vor der ganzen Gemeinde will ich dich loben.
For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
Alle, die ihr den HERRN achtet, preist ihn! Ihr Nachkommen von Jakob, ehrt ihn! Begegnet ihm in Ehrfurcht, ihr vom Volk Israel!
My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
Denn er hat den Hilflosen nicht verachtet, über sein Elend ging er nicht hinweg. Nein, Gott wandte sich nicht von ihm ab, sondern hörte auf ihn, als er um Hilfe schrie.
The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
HERR, jetzt habe ich allen Grund, dir vor der großen Gemeinde ein Loblied zu singen. Was ich dir in meiner Not versprochen habe, löse ich nun ein; alle, die Ehrfurcht vor dir haben, sind meine Zeugen.
All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
Die Armen sollen sich wieder satt essen. Alle, die nach dem HERRN fragen, sollen ihn loben. Euer Leben lang dürft ihr euch daran freuen!
For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations.
Auch in den fernsten Ländern werden Menschen Gott erkennen und zu ihm umkehren, ja, alle Völker werden sich vor ihm niederwerfen.
All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
Denn der HERR ist König, er herrscht über alle Nationen.
A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
Auch die Großen dieser Erde müssen vor ihm niederfallen, sie, die immer mehr als genug zu essen hatten. Ja, vor ihm werden einmal alle Menschen ihre Knie beugen, alle Sterblichen, denen das Leben zwischen den Fingern zerrinnt.
