I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.
Ich sagte: Ich will auf meine Wege achten, damit ich nicht sündige mit meiner Zunge. Ich lege meinem Mund einen Zaum an, solange der Frevler vor mir steht.
My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,
So blieb ich stumm und still; ich schwieg, vom Glück verlassen, doch mein Schmerz war aufgerührt.
LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.
Heiß wurde mir das Herz in der Brust, bei meinem Grübeln brennt ein Feuer; da redete ich mit meiner Zunge.
Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
HERR, lass mich erkennen mein Ende und die Zahl meiner Tage! Ich will erkennen, wie vergänglich ich bin!
Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
Siehe: Du machtest meine Tage nur eine Spanne lang, meine Lebenszeit ist vor dir wie ein Nichts. Nur als Hauch steht jeder Mensch da. [Sela]
And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
Nur wie ein Schattenbild wandelt der Mensch dahin, um ein Nichts macht er Lärm. Er rafft zusammen und weiß nicht, wer es einheimst.
Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.
Und nun, HERR, worauf habe ich gehofft? Meine Hoffnung, sie gilt dir!
I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.
Entreiß mich all meinen Sünden! Überlass mich nicht dem Spott des Toren!
Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.
Ich bin verstummt, ich tue den Mund nicht mehr auf. Denn so hast du es gefügt.
When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.
Nimm deine Plage weg von mir! Unter der Wucht deiner Hand bin ich vergangen.
Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
Du strafst und züchtigst den Mann wegen seiner Schuld, der Motte gleich hast du zerstört, was er begehrt, ein Hauch nur ist jeder Mensch. [Sela]
