Judgment against Judah and Jerusalem
For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

Denn siehe, Gott, der HERR der Heerscharen, nimmt von Jerusalem und Juda jede Stütze und Stützung, jede Unterstützung mit Brot und jede Unterstützung mit Wasser:
The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
den Helden und Krieger, den Richter und den Propheten, den Wahrsager und den Ältesten,
The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counseller, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
den Anführer von Fünfzig, den Angesehenen, den Ratgeber, den weisen Zauberer und den klugen Beschwörer.
And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
Ich mache junge Burschen zu ihren Anführern und Mutwillige sollen über sie herrschen.
And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
Dann bedrängt im Volk einer den andern und jeder seinen Nächsten. Die Jungen sind frech zu den Alten, die Geringen zu den Geehrten.
When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
Dann packt einer seinen Bruder im Haus seines Vaters: Du hast einen Mantel, sei unser Wortführer und dieser Trümmerhaufen sei unter deiner Gewalt!
In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
Der aber wird an jenem Tag seine Stimme erheben: Ich bin doch kein Wundarzt und in meinem Haus gibt es kein Brot und keinen Mantel. Macht mich nicht zum Wortführer des Volkes!
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
Ja, Jerusalem ist gestürzt und Juda gefallen; denn ihre Worte und ihre Taten richteten sich gegen den HERRN, um den Augen seiner Herrlichkeit zu trotzen.
The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
Der Ausdruck ihrer Gesichter klagte sie an und wie Sodom taten sie ihre Sünde kund, verhehlten sie nicht. Wehe ihnen, denn sie erwiesen sich selbst Böses.
Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Sagt: Der Gerechte, ja glücklich ist er; denn sie werden die Frucht ihrer Taten essen.
Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
Wehe dem Frevler, ihm geht es schlecht; denn was er mit seinen Händen vollbracht hat, wird ihm angetan!
As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
Mein Volk — seine Antreiber waren Ausbeuter und Frauen beherrschten es. Mein Volk, die, welche dir Schritte vorgaben, leiteten in die Irre und den Weg deiner Pfade haben sie verwirrt.
The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
Der HERR hat sich hingestellt zum Rechtsstreit; er steht da, die Völker zu richten.
The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
Der HERR geht ins Gericht mit den Ältesten seines Volkes und seinen Anführern: Ihr, ihr habt den Weinberg verwüstet; das dem Armen Geraubte ist in euren Häusern.
What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
Wie kommt ihr dazu, mein Volk zu zerschlagen? Ihr zermalmt das Gesicht der Armen — Spruch des Herrn, des GOTTES der Heerscharen.
Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
Der HERR sprach: Weil die Töchter Zions hochmütig sind, ihre Hälse recken und mit verführerischen Blicken daherkommen, immerzu trippelnd umherlaufen und mit ihren Fußspangen klirren,
Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
wird der Herr den Scheitel der Töchter Zions mit Schorf bedecken und der HERR wird ihre Schläfen kahl werden lassen.
In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
An jenem Tag wird der Herr den Schmuck wegnehmen: die Fußspangen, die kleinen Sonnen und Monde,
The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
und Turbane, die Fußkettchen und die Prachtgürtel, die Riechfläschchen und die Amulette,
The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
die Festkleider und Umhänge, die Umschlagtücher und Täschchen
The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
und die Spiegel, die feinen Schleier, die Schals und Kopftücher.
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
So wird es sein: Statt Balsam wird Moder sein, statt eines Gürtels ein Strick, statt kunstvoller Locken eine Glatze, statt eines Festkleides ein gegürteter Sack, Brandmal statt Schönheit.
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
Deine Männer fallen durchs Schwert, deine jungen Krieger im Kampf.
