The Lord's Glory Returns to the Temple

Plötzlich erblickte ich den Gott Israels in seiner Herrlichkeit. Er kam von Osten her nach Jerusalem. Das ganze Land erstrahlte in seinem Glanz, und ich hörte ein Rauschen, ein Brausen wie von gewaltigen Wassermassen.
And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.

And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.

So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.
Dann hob der Geist Gottes mich empor und brachte mich in den inneren Vorhof. Von dort konnte ich zusehen, wie der HERR in seiner Herrlichkeit den ganzen Tempel erfüllte.
And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me.

And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.
»Du Mensch, an diesem Ort stehen mein Thron und mein Fußschemel. Für alle Zeiten will ich hier mitten unter meinem Volk Israel wohnen. Nie wieder werden die Israeliten meinen heiligen Namen in den Schmutz ziehen, indem sie anderen Göttern nachlaufen und ihre verstorbenen Könige neben dem Tempel bestatten.
In their setting of their threshold by my thresholds, and their post by my posts, and the wall between me and them, they have even defiled my holy name by their abominations that they have committed: wherefore I have consumed them in mine anger.
Früher haben Israels Herrscher ihre Paläste direkt an meinen Tempel angebaut, Schwelle an Schwelle und Tür an Tür. Nur eine Wand trennte sie von mir. Durch ihre abscheulichen Taten beschmutzten sie meinen heiligen Namen, darum habe ich die Israeliten in meinem Zorn vernichtet.
Now let them put away their whoredom, and the carcases of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever.
Doch jetzt werden sie ein für alle Mal ihre Hurerei mit den Götzen aufgeben und die Leichen ihrer Könige von meinem Tempel fernhalten. Dann will ich für immer unter ihnen wohnen.«
Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities: and let them measure the pattern.
Weiter sagte die Stimme zu mir: »Du Mensch, erzähle den Israeliten von diesem Tempel! Wenn sie erkennen, wie gewaltig er ist, werden sie sich schämen für alle Sünden, die sie begangen haben.
And if they be ashamed of all that they have done, shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.
Ja, es soll ihnen leid tun, wie sehr sie mich bisher missachtet haben. Dann zeichne ihnen den Tempel auf und zeig ihnen, wie er von innen aussieht. Beschreib die Ausgänge und Eingänge und erklär ihnen alle Weisungen und Ordnungen, die ich für den Tempel gegeben habe. Schreib alles ganz genau auf, damit sie sich in Zukunft daran halten können.
This is the law of the house; Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof round about shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.
Und nun gebe ich dir die Anweisung, auf die es vor allem ankommt: Der ganze Tempelbezirk auf dem Gipfel dieses Berges soll allein mir geweiht sein. Alles, was sich dort befindet, ist darum in besonderem Maße heilig. Dies ist das wichtigste Gesetz für den Tempel.«
The Altar of Sacrifice
And these are the measures of the altar after the cubits: The cubit is a cubit and an hand breadth; even the bottom shall be a cubit, and the breadth a cubit, and the border thereof by the edge thereof round about shall be a span: and this shall be the higher place of the altar.

Rings um den Altar, in der Mitte des inneren Vorhofs, verlief ein Graben, der 0,5 Meter tief und ebenso breit war. Rund um den Graben gab es eine Abgrenzung von 25 Zentimetern Höhe. Der Altar selbst bestand aus drei übereinanderliegenden Blöcken. Der unterste Sockel
And from the bottom upon the ground even to the lower settle shall be two cubits, and the breadth one cubit; and from the lesser settle even to the greater settle shall be four cubits, and the breadth one cubit.
war vom Rand des Grabens an 1 Meter hoch. Dann trat der Altarrand 0,5 Meter zurück. Der nächste Sockel war größer, seine Höhe betrug 2 Meter. Auf ihm stand der dritte Sockel, der Opferherd. Auch dieser war 2 Meter hoch, aber auf jeder Seite 0,5 Meter schmaler als der zweite Sockel. Vier Hörner ragten von seinen Ecken aus in die Höhe.
And the altar shall be twelve cubits long, twelve broad, square in the four squares thereof.
Der Opferherd war quadratisch, seine Länge und seine Breite betrugen jeweils 6 Meter.
And the settle shall be fourteen cubits long and fourteen broad in the four squares thereof; and the border about it shall be half a cubit; and the bottom thereof shall be a cubit about; and his stairs shall look toward the east.
Auch der darunterliegende mittlere Sockel hatte die Form eines Quadrats, er war 7 Meter lang und ebenso breit. Der Graben rings um den Altar war 0,5 Meter breit und die Abgrenzung rundherum 25 Zentimeter hoch. An der Ostseite führten Stufen zum Altar hinauf.
The Altar Consecrated
And he said unto me, Son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; These are the ordinances of the altar in the day when they shall make it, to offer burnt offerings thereon, and to sprinkle blood thereon.

Gott, der HERR, sprach zu mir: »Du Mensch, wenn dieser Altar fertiggestellt ist, sollen auf ihm Brandopfer dargebracht werden, und man soll ihn mit Blut besprengen. Folgende Anweisungen sollt ihr für seine Einweihung beachten:
And thou shalt give to the priests the Levites that be of the seed of Zadok, which approach unto me, to minister unto me, saith the Lord GOD, a young bullock for a sin offering.
Nur die Priester aus dem Stamm Levi, die zu den Nachkommen von Zadok gehören, dürfen mir in meinem Tempel dienen. Gib ihnen einen jungen Stier, damit sie ihn schlachten und als Sündopfer darbringen. Ich, Gott, der HERR, will es so.
And thou shalt take of the blood thereof, and put it on the four horns of it, and on the four corners of the settle, and upon the border round about: thus shalt thou cleanse and purge it.
Du sollst die vier Hörner des Altars, die vier Ecken seiner Sockel und die Abgrenzung um den Graben mit dem Blut des Stieres bestreichen. So reinigst du den Altar von aller Schuld, die auf ihm lastet.
Thou shalt take the bullock also of the sin offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, without the sanctuary.
Danach lass den jungen Stier zu einem bestimmten Platz außerhalb des Tempelbezirks bringen. Dort muss er verbrannt werden.
And on the second day thou shalt offer a kid of the goats without blemish for a sin offering; and they shall cleanse the altar, as they did cleanse it with the bullock.
Am nächsten Tag sollst du einen fehlerlosen Ziegenbock als Sündopfer darbringen. Wie beim ersten Opfer muss der Altar dadurch von aller Schuld, die auf ihm lastet, gereinigt werden.
When thou hast made an end of cleansing it, thou shalt offer a young bullock without blemish, and a ram out of the flock without blemish.
Wenn du dies getan hast, suche einen jungen Stier und einen Schafbock aus, beide ohne jeden Fehler.
And thou shalt offer them before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering unto the LORD.
Die Priester sollen die Tiere mit Salz bestreuen und sie dann mir, dem HERRN, als Brandopfer darbringen.
Seven days shalt thou prepare every day a goat for a sin offering: they shall also prepare a young bullock, and a ram out of the flock, without blemish.
Sieben Tage lang sollst du täglich einen Ziegenbock, einen jungen Stier und einen Schafbock opfern. Alle Tiere müssen fehlerlos sein.
Seven days shall they purge the altar and purify it; and they shall consecrate themselves.
In diesen sieben Tagen sollt ihr den Altar einweihen und ihn von aller Schuld reinigen, die auf ihm lastet.
And when these days are expired, it shall be, that upon the eighth day, and so forward, the priests shall make your burnt offerings upon the altar, and your peace offerings; and I will accept you, saith the Lord GOD.
Vom achten Tag an sollen die Priester eure regelmäßigen Brand- und Friedensopfer auf dem Altar darbringen. Dann nehme ich euch wieder in Liebe als mein Volk an. Darauf gebe ich, Gott, der HERR, mein Wort!«
